harrisale
So the Geminids meteor shower peaks on the night of Decemeber 13th-14th (Thursday night - Friday morning). There will be a new moon so if you have clear skies you won't want to miss this year's show! Here is the cloud cover forecast for the peak viewing time (around 1am EST):

PennMan
Awesome! What night is that? Tomorrow evening, coinciding with the Geminids peak. I hope to be at one of the darkest locations in the northeast for this.

brettjrob
Went out for a couple hours last night to get a preview at a spot with moderate light pollution... ended up seeing a fireball so obscenely bright that it a) looked like lightning or a cop car pulling up behind me, and b ) easily cast a visible shadow (I was looking the wrong way, of course). Someone else compared it to the equivalent of the full moon suddenly appearing for a couple seconds, which sounds about right. Way stoked for tonight! Hoosier
Looked out my window last night (wasn't even thinking about meteors) and just happened to see one. Pretty lucky I'd say.

I'm probably going to be watching most of the night. Piscids are expected to peak in the early evening with Geminids peaking later in the night. Already over 100 Geminids being observed per hour! http://www.imo.net/live/geminids2012/

Parsley
went out for 10 minutes and saw 5--thick, bright, and long-lived. I look forward to the peak and when the lights at the track are turned off. Yeah, just stepped outside and saw 2 in about 5 minutes.

Sugarloaf1989
I was out viewing the meteorites at our local baseball field which offers total darkness and I saw 12 in a 10 minute period including 4 at once. The general direction here seem to be from Northeast - Southwest while looking in the eastern sky.
Kmlwx
Have seen a few here - not too many yet. The stars seem much brighter than normal tonight - I guess the combination of the very clear sky and no moon...even so, just seems brighter than normal! Great stargazing night! LongBeachSurfFreak
I just saw 11 in 20 minutes 25 miles East of NYC! The most i have ever seen here! And then watched a caravan of 5 FEMA trailers head down my block!

eyewall
Just in my field of view I counted 15 or so in 12-15 minutes of viewing! 2 left quite a trail and were very bright. This was in a moderately lighted area from 1-1:15am EST. They came in bursts with often 2 or 3 within a second or two of each other.
