I was out for 2 days and come back to weenies melting down?

Am I missing something, because the pattern looks pretty much as advertised at the end of last week. Our potential mini-torch for Dec 13-15 period is still there. I guess people are freaking out now because its closer on the models. It still looks like we have multiple SWFE shots in the Dec 17-25 time frame, and perhaps beyond.

Yesterday was a pretty bad low point. A bunch of us kept saying it wasn't a bad pattern, but I think Saturday's runs spooked some. It looks pretty ripe for storms which is one big thing missing as of late.

I was nursing a horrible, horrible hangover so I missed all the good stuff apparently. In re-reading what is left it didn't look that bad just kind of a normal day.

When the parents away the kids will play, Will was missed.

It was not only my son crying, but a few weenies too. But what we kept saying was that block to the north, while by strong is actually coming in

Better and will help force cyclogenesis off the coast and keep it from going into NY State. I know people don't see sub 522 thicknesses, but the first goal is to get a storm which we could not do all last year.

12Z GFS once again a hit for the northeast. A bit more snow on the frontside than the 6Z but less on the backside.

The way I see it is that the key difference between a hit and a lakes cutter (as the ECMWF advertises) is the interaction between 3 shortwaves. At f126 on the GFS, we see one shortwave (1) over ME, one over MO (2), and one over Manitoba (3). If the spacing between (1) and (2) is too large, a ridge develops between the two, slowing down (2) and giving it the opportunity to phase with (3) - resulting in a lakes cutter. If the spacing between (1) and (2) is too small, (2) will be in the -PVA region of (1), resulting in a very weak storm that will likely be shunted out to sea. Only a "thread the needle" scenario will actually work out, but at least there's a chance!

Kev may not be gone he may be pre-treating his driveway for the snow he's expecting Tuesday from the coastal wave.

I agree on everything else. The frustration yesterday seemed kind of ridiculous. Wow have people gotten spoiled. Pre Xmas snow is always a bonus. I'd rather have a real winter that goes into Feb/March this year.

Not trying to cause trouble, but I think that posting about the Pats game in this thread made more sense, as this is the "banter" and that's more serious discussion. Personally, I feel like if he posted that in the other thread someone may have said, "That's better suited for the banter thread, its not serious pattern discussion."

Other times, there needs to be good moderation, like during storms, agreed.

LOL, I made a reference to the fact that there was a discussion already open for post 12/15 discussion and you jump down my throat when I just point that fact out. Wow, you are over-sensitive.

This forum easily has the most lenient moderation. We trust people to use their best judgement a lot...but unfortunately we have people who can't always do that. For some reason, people need to not take it personally when someone removes a post or maybe offers some encouragement to keep threads on topic.

I didn't jump down your throat. Sorry you took it that way, it was a misinterpretation that Ray took the same way. I appreciate all the work you do for this site.
