Happy new year OB...you need to get back here ASAP....another 7cms today

Yeah, you guys are having a winter up there and not just in terms of snowfall. Take a look at your temperature forecasts this week compared to mine. The canal may be ready for skating soon. I'll be visiting Ottawa one of the winterlude weekends, so hopefully the winter weather continues, although we are expecting a one week torch next week.

At least there is a snowpack down here and it looks like winter.

Nice Pics Subzero and LEK!

My snow is all blown to hell so not so pretty when it ranges from 5 inches to 30 inches blown in the fields.  But a  pretty consistet 15-18 inches in the woods where I was snow shoeing today.

The GFS is unexciting, but keeps enough nw flow to save us from any real mild wx, then a brief  thaw as a low cuts followed a big reload of the trough into the east hours 240 onward.

Happy new year everyone! Just got back from Whiteface and it was fantastic, almost everything is open which for christmas week is pretty rare. they got 30" over the break including 24" from the big storm and another 6" from the 30th event. If you are planning on skiing, get out there, condititons are fantastic!

Just a bit colder here.  ;)

The low here was a frigid -19F.  Still -15F and some light flurries or maybe they are ice crystals wafting down. The sky is about half clear, but some patchy clouds have encroached in the west now.

Finally made it below 0 at -0.1° at 5:30.  Had a nice suprise of 2.7" of total fluff snow yesterday afternoon.

Quite the difference!  I wonder if we had some clouds or wind to keep our temp up?

Head a little farther west to the Trout Creek/Masonville area and I'm pretty sure it was 9* with light snow and cloudy skies at 5:45 this am.  I didn't turn a light on but that's what my squinting told me....now I'm questioning if it could have been -9f* but it didn't feel quite that cold.  ~80 miles apart with a 28* difference!  Impressive.

Wow.  It's an amazing what a small difference in elevation can do.   I only fell to -4 !!

I hope you guys waived goodbye to winter for the next 8 to 10 days.  "We'll always have late December"

We've already had double the winter that was last year and its only 2 weeks into winter. As long as the lake is not frozen I have hope for a large LES event if we can get some decent conditions! Already had an epic synoptic snowstorm, if we can get a good LES snowstorm it would be a perfect winter! Have done enough boarding and snow mobiling the last 2 weeks that I can take a break for a few weeks. =)

Looks winter-like through Monday to me.  Here in ENY we may not be too mild even on Tuesday.

So I plan on enjoying winter with my daily 2 mile snowshoe, etc. until it actually gets milder. Looks like the thaw will be pretty damaging to our snow then, but hopefully get replenishment fairly quickly with a gradient pattern setting up.

I hope you guys waived goodbye to winter for the next 8 to 10 days.  "We'll always have late December"
