Upstate NY/North Country + adjacent ON, QC, VT: Heading into December

A foot here...

Some steady light snow yet, but accumulation is probably just about done.

Now I have a lot of shoveling to do.

Picked up around 8" at home when I left for work a little while ago, I'll see if there was anything additional to add later on. Looks like NWS Albany just reported even more down at their office with 10".

I wonder how many times all the "big" Upstate NY cities reached double digits in snowfall from the same storm system? Pretty incredible. I'm sure it happened during the March 1993 storm, but nothing else is coming to mee off the top of my head.

Western areas of the Hudson Valley, including the city of Albany, are only very rarely shadowed during snowstorms. Same can't be said further east however, especially in parts of Washington and Rensselaer Counties.

About 9.5" on the ground here, maybe we'll pick up another half inch with some light snow. This event definitely exceeded my expectations with downsloping not being much of an issue, at least on the west side of the Hudson River.

Big shadow over there near route 22 today. They may be recouping a bit now, but mostly places were at only 1 to 3 inches around 7 AM.

That's great, I figured you would do very well there with this. Figures a week after I move out of western Rotterdam, they get upwards of 11" so far. I was on the edge of the heaviest stuff much of the night, with a lot of it falling just barely to my west. Overall I'm not losing too much in terms of average snowfall with the move, but I will miss all those rotting lake effect snow bands that reached just far enough east to be an annoyance to most locals.

Down at work in Albany, steady light snow as well with occiasional gusty winds to blow it around. Don't know if its still the decaying band that sat overhead most of the morning, or if the hudson-mohawk convergence is setting.

9.5" here in Slingerlands. Snow growth started out nice but quickly got worse with lots of needles. Shoveling this stuff was nasty. Hoping for some HVMV convergence to set in. Heading up to Thacher Park to do some skiing. Looks like steady snow there still. I'm thinking they're around 12"?

Buffalo NWS total from this storm was 12.4 inches. Brings the airport up to 18.9 inches of snow on the year, still 13.1 inches behind the normal for this time of the year at an even 32.0 inches. At this time last year we had a total of 3.0 inches on the year. Still got a lot of catching up to do but fairing much better then last year.
