Bob Chill
It's gone downhill since they implemented the new format. Slow as hell I can't take it. They need to fix that. The irony is that the same people that complain about the problem are the problem. Ncep has to ice down the server every time the gfs shows a snowstorm inside of 1 million hours. Guilty as charged. It might be part of it, but I think there is an issue with their coding or something. It's always slow. If you just pull up the image (.gif URL) and change the numbers it's faster. nflwxman
Lol wut at the 6z GFS. The low doesn't make it north of RDU before it slides off the coast. Precip fairly light compared to past runs

They start changing at about 4 days and it's look out below after that.

The depiction of the 50/50 breaking off pieces and retrograding SW is very entertaining.
kurtstack
Aha. Tracking storms wouldn't be complete without the token suppressed solution from the GFS. I think we've seen every possible track over the past two days. Starting to get close to the five day range where hopefully we won't see 1,000+ mile shifts from run to run. Mrs.J
For some reason this year my girls are insisting that we will have a white Christmas. I keep telling them not to count on it. Well as any good parent you would like to make your kids wishes come true, so they will be having a white Christmas... even if just in a bucket. North Balti Zen
Vials of "instant snow" can be had readily in West Baltimore too. And East Baltimore for that matter...
CranberryWX
The moderate rain swept in here within the last 30 minutes...windy too out of the SW. My forecast still has 1-3" of lake enhanced upslope later tonight and tomorrow. Next county over has an advisory for 2-4". If you're lucky to be under one of the better streamers off the lakes there may be some higher amounts in the WV lowlands.

Ian
I've decided to root for an ice storm. Some claim that will satisfy their wish for winter weather and they always suck around here (cue someone posting about one 20 years ago that didnt).
