So we are on to the next day 12 storm?

Pretty much. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we get some "mood" flakes next weekend with the arctic air moving in, but no widespread accumulations of course. That does seem quite consistent on all the models...going to get damn cold next weekend. Euro has -12C 850s for Xmas morning.

Anything look remotely like post Xmas storm as seen on 276 OP GFS?

240 has moisture moving east across the SW with a cold air mass in place. Hard to say too much about it other than it's not the same setup as the gfs.

Yeah, I do sometimes forget that from where the majority of the posters are in the Mid-Atlantic in comparison to where I am is like a world apart sometimes.

Feb. 2012 was my last snow and got a good 8-9" out of it.

Yeah, that was my last good one here too. Right at 9 inches. Had to drive to Roanoke airport to catch a flight to Houston that morning, my flight was one of two NOT cancelled that morning so I had to be there at 6 am, then flight delayed until 945 to make a connect in Charlotte at 1110. I remember girl saying 'you've got lots of time", then landing in Charlotte at 1106!

that's a cool shot. would you mind if i shared it on CWG FB? could credit you etc.. shoot me a pm or lemme know. lemme know where too. ;)

Yeah man, go for it! Sent you a PM

Let us all know where that's from!

Took it just before noon in Ashburn, VA. I learned my lesson long ago that when you see a cool shot of the clouds you gotta act quick, 'cause it usually goes away very fast

I know it's way out there but that setup @ 240 hrs looks amazing for you guys in the M.A. Specifics are dumb to talk about but it's pretty obvious theres going to be pretty large cutoff low around x-mas. If it sits around and helps keep a HP in SE Canada, that combined with the pacific energy would give a pretty good chance for a snowstorm. This is the best EURO run for M.A yet imo.

The sad thing is it would be pretty tuff to get better than the 18z gfs so it is all downhill from here.

This feels like one of those storms that's gonna be on the models for days...and then just like what happened up North to those poor souls in SNE the models will start to look not as nice and then come D day...blech!!

Picture it (prelude), you've just finished with last minute grocery shopping, wrapping gifts. It's about 2 PM on Christmas eve, a light rain, sleet begins to fall. Temps are in the upper 30's but evap cooling quickly drops them to just above freezing. By dusk you start to see flakes mixing in, and a short time later it's snowing at a good clip. Time to sit down for a nice dinner that you think will never end. You can't very well have dinner with family looking out the door. Finally it ends and you look out the door to see a nice blanket of white and it's really coming down. You chose this moment to tell your wife what a lucky man you are and then tell your mother in law how happy you are she was able to spend Christmas at your house......

Ahhhh, we can always dream.
