Oh, excuse me for not being optimistic :axe: There is a difference between being optimistic when there is a legitimate threat and being optimistic when there is not a genuine threat.

This may not be a threat to your back yard since you are down in the eastern part of the state, but for some folks in this sub forum, it is still alive. Let's just see what happens..

Did you not see the post that burger was referencing above (mine from the other thread)? He asked for the definition of wishcasting and then you replied with your smart remark...sorry if I reply a smart remark with a smart remark back. That's just the way it works.

You're not really sorry though, are you *(wink wink)?

As many wise people have stated before, how others decide to interpret posts and words lies with them. In the spirit of honesty, no - I did not pay attention to whom burger was referencing, but rather what he was asking. The term "wishcasting" is thrown about as an insult without a clear definition as to what it even is. His was a valid question, which most people darting the phrase at someone never actually explain - if you've the jacob's to call someone out for it, you d*** well better be prepared to prove the accusation (this is a general statement, in case it's unclear).

Your handle has never passed the tips of my fingers. What I mean, and who (if any) I may be referring to will never be a mystery. That's a courtesy that I extend to everyone out of respect. Passive aggression is weak.

Good to have you - I look forward to your input.

No worries...no harm, no foul...yeah...that is a good genuine question that should be asked...before I post something, I always ask myself, "is there really a decent chance that this could occur or not?" If there is not a good chance it is going to happen, I genuinely keep my thoughts to myself and post the most likely solution so that there is no confusion as to whether I am being biased or not. I think being biased toward one solution or another in one's answer to a question about a threat can and should be interpreted as wishcasting. That's the way I define it. I naturally love snow because I don't see it very often here in eastern NC but I, UNLIKE others, know when to be bullish about a threat for the southeastern US and when to back off. That's something many folks on this board need to learn how to do.

Nice to meet you and Happy New Year to you!

is it just me or does anybody else get a sinking feeling whenever they are about to read a post from nrgjeff or Mr. Bob? :(

On the other hand, I think it's funny when Bevo works "Bollocks" into a post. :)

Sobering and true.

And of course we all know why we get that feeling...it's the same reason you felt sick when you were young and your mom told you that discipline would happen when dad came home. It wasn't the impending threat, it was knowing she was right.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is who specifically has been biased? I guess some have been hugging the ukie but in this case with so much uncertainty aloft you almost gotta hug one model and roll with it. I still also have yet to hear one poster say they think it is def. going to snow. A few though have said that it def. won't do anything which is probably just as bad. The bulk of the optimism has been from people who do this for a living saying that the pattern looks right and that something big COULD come out of it if everything were to line up right. So of course the focus is going to be on this seeing if that can happen and looking for signs that it may be happening. I think that's where a lot of this "war" has come from, when some of the folks come on here to put in their two cents a small minority almost say there is no chance as if anyone just watching is an idiot for watching. That I think is what rubs people the wrong way. Instead of saying, "lol no way this happens you guys are wasting your time", it could be said, "don't think this is going to happen guys, this has no kicker and we need the southern energy further east to really phase".

This is where you are: 1) on your high-horse, and 2) wrong...there's not a single poster on here that has been bullish on this being a raging snow/winter storm. Have they discussed possible winter scenarios?...yes.

Well Folks, the Sweet Water IPA is flowing here at the house. Party of one as both my wife and my little boy will be asleep by 9 :)

Nice - I've just recently finished my lot of Newcastle Winter IPA. I'm having to settle for Cedric's Brown Ale - which I believe comes out of Highland's Brewing. Decent in a pinch.

OH OK...thanks for the bolded suggestion...the key point being everything has to line up perfectly for wintry weather in the SE and a lot of things need to come together quickly for the wintry solution to pan out at this point and the probabilities of such an event happening are rapidly dwindling at this point IMHO...

That is EXACTLY right! I am all too familiar with that scenario.

And here's a piece of advice that I wish I had known back then: don't EVER grab the belt.
