Brick Tamland
Looks like things are looking up. At least we have something to watch for next week, and looks like it could kick off some fun headed into Christmas. Just have to keep the trends going in the right direction. Brick Tamland
The Euro hasn't even come out yet? Are you talking about last night? Yes, I was talking about the runs that Matthew East showed in his video this morning. Hoping the Euro starts to follow the GFS.

WilkesboroDude
GUYS, after well ABOVE normal temps, soil temps will melt everything after a few hours. This will eat away accumulations before and after. Maybe if your one of the lucky ones who gets a foot, you could cool the soil temps down enough to sustain 6 inches for two days or so. Brick Tamland
Depends on the rate in which the snow falls, too. But I don't think it's really been above normal that much since the end of summer. We had a mild fall.

Ray's Weather Center Yesterday via Twitter For WNC for December 1-9, temps running a whopping 10 degrees above normal. Nothing nearly so mild for the rest of the month. Is this "tongue in cheek?" It's hard to detect the sarcasm in written form sometimes. We've debated the soil temps issue in previous years, but I'm too lazy to go back and find the posts to link to. valkhorn
Out of Morristown per the discussion: SIGNIFICANT LOW PRESSURE TAKING SHAPE ON TUESDAY. TRACK AND TIMING REMAIN IN QUESTION BUT SNOW EVENT LIKELY WITH THIS SYSTEM. That's unusual for them to go out on a limb like that. They're usually very conservative. Jon
Definitely feeling very Widre with this storm... Screw accumulations, we have to make it snow first.
WilkesboroDude
Out of Morristown per the discussion: That's unusual for them to go out on a limb like that. They're usually very conservative. Try Blacksburg if your looking for conservative... The weak front really never makes it to the coast...as both the European model (ecmwf) and GFS have a storm riding northeast along it for the beginning of next week. Not enough agreement for anything more than slight chance probability of precipitation. Even if this system does affect our region...doesn't look like the pattern will favor enough cold air for snow...would mostly be just a chilly rain. Brick Tamland
I don't think it's that important to see snow out of the system next week. If we do, I'll take it. But I just like the pattern getting more active and having something to watch. I hope this is setting the way for an active winter.

Blue Ridge
Unless they know something we (and Blacksburg) doesn't? They doesn't know nothing different than no other WFO. I am guilty of playing the "MRX is too conservative" card, but truth be told, they are typically quite accurate. Many of us were honking for increased snow totals ahead of Sandy, yet MRX remained relatively conservative for totals in valley locations. Good for them; very few places below 2,500 ft saw more than a trace. Time to give it a rest.
