Ginx snewx
Looking more and more like strong undercutting cold dominates again. Has Jerry's 94 look. Going to be a tight gradient. Heavy snows and ice storms seem likely from Hobbs Ferry north.

Typhoon Tip
I recall posting to Jerry ..or somebody, that this appeared to be a good ice threat early winter a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, Will ... and it's a theme continued on this 18z GFS. Not atypical for this time range, as the +PNA begins to transition in, will there be a single powerful wave that makes use of the feedback, or will it be a series? Too soon to tell. The heights over the far eastern Pac and western N/A are gradually rising and as S/W dumps over the top and tunnels into the MV, initially there is resistance in the deep southeast in the form of residual positive height departures. This actually causes the positive tilt of the trough in the central longitudes (initially), but we see way out in time - or suspect rather, that a more standard, neutral tilt L/W axis sets up. In the meantime, that positive tilt is definitely in climo for icing - you get those waves rippling along.

radarman
Well I was wrong about the high. After receding for nearly 2 hours from 43 a push of warm air out ahead of the precip spiked it up to 46.3 and still going. Low level cold air on the ropes and about to be knocked out for a couple days.
