Finally cold enough to like the stove today. Kind of drafty though

LOL--what the hell is going on there?

Box extended the WWA down to CT, I assume for freezing drizzle concern?? Temp 30 here with light drizzle

That's the only reason it was placed anywhere else.

I'm calling the final here of 1.3".

25.1/24--the warmer air is close.

I disagree with this.

PRESENT THINKING IS THAT THE BETTER MOISTURE AVAILABILITY WILL BE

COLLOCATED WITHIN PROXIMITY OF THE SFC COLD FRNT AND WARMER AIR. A

LINE OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SHOWERS IS EXPECTED AS LIKELY LOW CLOUDS

AND FOG WILL IMPACT S/SE NEW ENGLAND /ESPECIALLY ALONG SHORELINES/.

HIGH PRES WITH COOLER AND DRIER AIR WILL BUILD TO THE REAR. WHILE

THERE IS THE UNCERTAINTY AS TO THE TIMING OF TRANSITION...THERE IS

GREATER CONFIDENCE THAT LATE WEDNESDAY INTO THE OVRNGT PD...REMNANT

SHRTWV ENERGY WILL FETCH MOISTURE OFF THE LAKES ALLOWING FOR THE

POSSIBILITY OF SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS AND MINOR ACCUMULATIONS TO

STRETCH INTO SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND.

But I violently agree with this

..

WEEKEND...

DETERMINISTIC FCST GUIDANCE KEYS ON A DISTURBANCE...BUT ITS EXACT

EVOLUTION WITH REGARDS TO THE SFC LOW REMAINS UNCERTAIN. THE

POSSIBILITY OF INTERIOR SNOWS WITH COASTAL RAINS IS PLAUSIBLE AS

COLD AIR OUT OF CANADA SEEMINGLY REMAINS IN PLACE.

I think we're going to have cross our fingers and hope we are on the right side of the gradient.

More importantly...Happy Birthday! Make it a good one.

Maybe 1993-94 can visit?

The drinking age used to be 18 in Mass, I turned 18 on 4/2/79, they raised the legal age to 21 on 4/15/79 :axe:

was a fun two weeks

Happy Birthday Wfella

LOL....otoh, at least as long as we're both on earth, you'll be a "kid" to me. NY state was among the few with 18 drinking age for a long time. We had to drive to get there...oy! Thanks for the good wishes....mid December for rockin' winter.

Pretty cold interior areas especially the valleys, hope there is no precip breaking out. Sat night and all. Glaze is deadly

Yeah, it could be bad later. Glad I am staying in for the remainder of the evening. Wife is still on the roads for the next hour or so...

Euro ensembles not as enthusiastic as last night ont he +PNA out beyond D10. It does try to get the NAO negative near the end which keeps us cold enough for threats...but you can tell the spread is huge overlal on these runs since even in the PNA region there's little oscillations and almost split flow looking type height isopleths.

GEFS were much more gung ho.

Yeah, I posted in the winter thread ... the 12z GFS and GEFS look fantastic ... Rex block along the west coast, PV-genesis over James Bay, with a cycling lobe extending out across Newfoundland and the Davis Straight, a large ridge to the northeast over Greenland and western Europe. ...looks beautiful

What a great winters day out there today! It went between rain and snow showers all day long here. It was funny and sad at the same time when I took a drive to Hanover and saw the snow sticking to the trees felt like ages since I had seen that....and then I said wait it had been a long time :axe: hopefully today is a sign of things to come!

Can someone please explain to me why a winter wx advisory is in effect for N CT while a freezing rain advisory is in effect for S CT.

Well at least we can feel confident knowing there is good collaboration between adjacent offices..This way there is no public confusion

And Albany has nothing in effect. These are the days in the media we just ignore NWS watches/warning/advisories.
