packbacker
Who would have thunk it back in August when an El Nino seemed impending. Now with the sinking El Nino and crappy pacific we are setting up for a warm/dry December.
WilkesboroDude
Also of note on the HPC map...the west coast is about to get stormy. Would be nice if that translates over to the east coast mid December and beyond.

CandymanColumbusGA
This drought has been ongoing for many, many, many years now I thought the same thing when I saw this thread. We've been in a drought here since, at least, 2007, if not longer. That red/deep red hasn't moved much for the past year or longer.

WilkesboroDude
Def. got more than 0.01 of rain today...but still not drought buster of course. Typical heavier showers north-west...and now light rain at times with radar showing little to no coverage.
Suncat
Things are certainly getting drier in NC...just hope this won't be a repeat of 2008! Next state drought map comes out on Thursday...
Poimen
Today's 12Z GFS is quite stormy (relative to what has occurred lately) in the extended range, seemingly out of the blue. Will be interesting to see if that sticks in coming runs. I can live with 2.5-3.0" of rain in the next two weeks.
Suncat
I hope this is a hint of a pattern change. But at 384 hours out, I'm not going to get overly excited.

weatherfide
Hopefully we will get much needed rain next tues and wed And poof goes the rain for Wednesday next week. 0Z GFS takes it away...almost all of it. Hopefully, this is just a blip and later runs bring it back.
Lookout
This drought has been ongoing for many, many, many years now Yep....makes me wonder if we will ever get into a consistent wet pattern again since this has been going on for so long. That drought map is wrong imho. Lake levels, water table levels, creek levels, and huge rainfall deficits...again, for the year certainly make the case it's worse than that map indicates. MotoWeatherman
2012 is shaping up to be a top 5 year for me in terms lack of rain fall. I currently sit at 40.85" with just 1 month to go. In a normal year I should get 61.24". Top 5 worst years for Dahlonega: 2007 - 35.59 1904 - 38.97 1986 - 43.10 1981 - 44.05 1954 - 45.

I'm around 11 down, but one storm dropped 5 inches in 3 days, and the latest one dropped 6 inches in one day..otherwise I'm down 20 too. It's winter, it will get cold some....last year did some...but winter is no guarentee for rain, just because climo says it's the rainy season. It is very worrying that since I moved here in early 80's, I've seen way more drought in years, than above average rain. The one in the 80's was the worse I've ever seen, but the last 10 or 12 years haven't been slouches in the "no rain for you" department. The last really, really wet winter I remember was in 98 or 99. It is taking too long for the pendulam to swing back. T
jrips27
I've been meaning to snap a picture of a nearby pond because it's the lowest I ever remember seeing it. I'll try and get one soon. Mighty dry around these parts.

Suncat
It's looking like another week without substantial rainfall for NC through the weekend. I checked the USGS stream flows for the state and rivers in the far southwest as well as in the central piedmont are dropping rapidly. I would not be surprised if this week's drought map reflects the worsening drought. BTW, the current temperature at the Raleigh-Durham Airport is 75 F.
