BeastFromTheEast
I think it's safe to say we have at least another 7 days that are a lock for no snow...the flip to colder/snowier weather never makes it out of fantasy range. I doubt it will even in Mid-December. Trends die hard. And this has been the year of Warm and relative calmness storm wise.

I'm trying to avoid too much gut feeling input...at least 7 more days looks like a lock. Record snowless streak is going be within reach.
Trent
I'm liking CLE's shot at breaking the time between 1 inch snowfalls. We just have to get to December 12 to tie and 13 to break. That would oust the 282 days in 1998. Shouldn't be too hard a feat.
weathergy
Well, I present to you this storm, although it's the only big December storm I can think of: I was less than one year old at the time, so no personal recollection of it, but it certainly looks more intense than even GHD, perhaps because of bigger flake size, more of a heavy wet snow, whatever it may be. Good 'ole Weather Channel. They used to be respectable, and great to watch. I loved the jazz and R&B music on the local forecasts.

Sure is the truth, I wish I wouldn't have taken it for granted back then, maybe kept more of the VHS tapes I used to record TWC back in the late 90s/early 00s. michsnowfreak
Oh, I know. I was just teasing. If the entire subforum received 5 6"+ snows, the complaint thread would still be alive and well. Absolutely. See 2010-11 for details (though there wasn't an official complaint thread back then).

Chicago WX
About ready to write off the next 10 days here as far as sig snow opportunities. Significant as to what, 6"+? I'd feel comfortable writing off that possibility for 3 out of every 4 entire winters in LAF.

Anything more than a couple inches. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if we're still waiting for the first inch by then.

Geos
About ready to write off the next 10 days here as far as sig snow opportunities. The storm could shift SE to get LAF some accumulating snow too!
Hoosier
Some people are going to look silly in a week or so, just sayin. Granted it does look better the farther north you are but I'm just not seeing how it is a particularly favorable pattern farther southward into the OV. Trent
Some futility fun: With no snow the next few days we'll slip into 5th latest first inch. With no snow the next few days, we'll slip into 3rd longest stretch between 1 inch snowfalls. The storm next week should cut and extend futility, and should move us into the longest stretch between 1 inch snowfalls.
