Urban heat island is likely to be a factor, as it usually is in early season events with marginal sfc temps. Notice the large differences between NYC and adjacent urban NE NJ versus central/eastern LI, Westchester/Rockland counties, coastal southern CT, and interior NE/central NJ.

Temps are rising steadily over southern CT/LI/central NJ - up about 4-5F since midnight. Meanwhile, NYC/urban NE NJ are holding in the 39-44F range with little or very slow rises past few hours. However, it looks like the precip will come in so quickly that the temp difference between NYC/urban NE NJ and surrounding areas will still be substantial.

For those who were so excited last nite about radiational cooling stop being equally depressed over your temps being in the upper 30s this morning .

If and when you precip hard enough your temps will fall this afternoon and you will snow at some point .Now if you thought this was a replay of Nov 7 th you need to see a doctor , However put your rafts away , this is not all rain .
