ORH_wxman
Coventry, Kevin took Will and I on a trip there back on Dec 5 2009. He was showing us his snow plastered to all the trees like a proud papa. The hill he drove up was the one I circled I'm pretty sure. It was north of him just a bit. The dirt road that we drove on was still snow packed and Kevin was so happy, lol.

Sugarloaf1989
The USGS map has this circled 1000 foot hill just north of Kevin Delorme has the same location listed with a 900' elevation contour on it's 2006 map.

ORH_wxman
This map is dated 1890 They don't really change...its easier to see the contours on the older maps. Right on their site, its the same (or close enough) values:
powderfreak
Delorme has the same location listed with a 900' elevation contour on it's 2006 map. This map is dated 1890 Ahhh the dead time after the 18z runs... is the highest point in Tolland 998ft or 101.5ft? Do we trust the map from the 1800s or the 2006 one? Hmmmm I'm sure most are holding their breath, lol.

ORH_wxman
Looks like it upslopes with south or southeast winds. Lol. Its actually amazing how many different sources of elevation there are. I've seen like 10 different ones all with slightly different numbers. In the end, none of it really matters (I mean what is the difference betwene 981 feet and 1004 feet for sensible weather?). I've always found 800 feet to be a bit of a magic number around here for marginal events. Though sometimes you have a few different "magic" numbers....like 500, then 800 and then again at like 1200 feet.

Sugarloaf1989
Bald Hill does not have a peak elevation listed on the 2012 USGS map, but it looks like it touches 1,000' in about 5 different places near the summit.
H2Otown_WX
Lol...that would give a high end warning event to most of the interior. ORH would probably challenge their record monthly Nov snow in that solution, ha. Is it a 6-12 type deal up there?
Damage In Tolland
The only Bald Hill on my map is in Union. I am not seeing anything over 1,000' in Tolland on the Delorme Map. Scooter and Will have both been at the top of Bald Hill with me. It's there . We named it Weenie Hill

The dirt road that we drove on was still snow packed and Kevin was so happy, lol. It's much the same here with Grant Hill at 934' having snow when Vernon at 400' has nothing. In 2007 we had freezing rain at 800' and above and the 800' contour is a few hundred feet just down the street from my house.

Lol I was so happy that day, snow, weenie mets , trip to Weenie Hill, little did we know I would add a new coat of paint to Wills Explorer lol. And then we get to the valley in West Hartford to green grass. Lol
CoastalWx
Shoot, 200' around here can be the magic number between non accumulating 33.5 snow and 32.0F paste.

And then we get to the valley in West Hartford to green grass. Lol LOL, that was a first real taste of the difference between those hills and the valley. Remember we found one lonely weenie pile left? That was a good trip.

We named it Weenie Hill Yeah now I see it on the 2012 USGS map. It look like 1,005' is a safe bet for peak elevation, but not the old 1015' one. Damage In Tolland
We must have had a quick squall move thru. Sugarloaf1989
The highest point that you can legally get to by car/hiking in Tolland County is Snow Hill at 1,202' which has FAA equiptment on the summit. The highest point is Burley Hill at 1,316' which is on private property and not opened to the public.

You can drive to the top along a rough and narrow dirt road. It's not marked and you first have to pass through the Mt Laurel sanctuary. I tagged my Christmas Tree yesterday in Eastford and I was suprised to still find patches of snow in the area.

Yeah up in Union and parts of Stafford..there's some sneaky high spots. Even on 84 itself in Union you're right about 1,000 feet..My friend across the street is the principal there..K-8..There's 76 students in the whole school lol.. There is absolutely nothing there

ORH_wxman
Is the LES.streamers.we are getting? Yeah some leftover LES stuff with just enough LL moisture to keep some of them as flurries or perhaps re-ignite one into a very brief snow shower. We lose the cyclonic flow pretty quickly tonight though so they should shut off overnight.
