Temps dropping to 11 by evening, wind chills -20. Something to savor as I head back to PA.

Reale WX
Looking at the CIPS analogs, the average snow totals actually give a pretty decent event for NNJ through New England... but looking at the top matches individually is more of a non-event / chilling offshore like the Euro shows
ORH_wxman
There has been one common theme today....all model suites except one has been trending. The one that hasn't trended has more or less held steady for 3 runs now and the rest of the models that trended were trending toward it.

ORH_wxman
It might come north...there is still time for it to do that, but there is zero doubt that the trends today would favor a miss.
powderfreak
Except Euro ens which now drop 1-2 inches of fluff. Expect op to come north and wet tonite Weren't the ensembles like a trace to 0.05" of QPF? Now you're really stretching unless you are expecting 20-40:1 ratios. I know these are all troll posts... but man its going to be a long winter of "expect model X to come north/south/east/west and become wetter/colder" to fulfill your snowy delusions. A group of whales is going to fart in the Atlantic, release latent heat, and cause it come north. Lock it in. Better put the heavy snow icon up for mid-week. ORH_wxman
Tomorrow night is really the last chance to get it north if it doesn't do it over the next couple runs. The shortwave responsible for this system comes onshore tomorrow night so it will have a better sampling....this is not as big of a deal like it was 10 years ago since our satellite derived data has improved a lot, but we still see this happen to a lesser extent at times. Those 72 hour shifts.
