Heisy
I think the biggest issue is how far west the initial shortwave enters the US. EURO is way farther east, no room to amplify. Going to be pretty interesting how this plays out in terms of which models cave
andyhb
Small weenie syndrome? Nah, that for trucks with giant wheels, that's more like "sleep with me, I got a lambo" syndrome.

mahk_webstah
Hey good morning everyone. Cooked all day and was in bed at 8 lol so here I am at 4am looking at weather. HPCs overnight long range and prelim progs are interesting. They chuck the EC and GFS almost totally and take the UK to some extent. I do notice that there maps (in comparison to the prior) have the low a little closer inside the benchmark, and a little lower pressure at 1004 vs. 1008. So maybe a typical early season light to moderate snow for some, mixed bag for others?
moneypitmike
06 GFS looks pretty weak and south/east--decent for several members to have some snow, even though there's nothing tremendous about the sytem. Then a week-long torch to melt it all. Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving.

moneypitmike
I wonder how much we'll all torch today. I had a "moral victory" yesterday in topping out at 49.9. Too bad I'll have something that begins with a 5 today. Hoping that I might see a flake or two as the front passes through. But, 1) there won't be much of anything to see and 2) I'll probalby sleep if anything were to occur. Off to the beaver pond.
powderfreak
Models are increasing QPF for the upslope this weekend on gusty NW winds.... 0.82" QPF at Jay Peak, with 0.5-0.75" over Mansfield's east side here in Stowe. This WRF from BTV is absolutely awesome with the topographic map under it.

powderfreak
Did they change the graphics on that? I.don't recall you posting an image like that before Yeah they did... BTV's got an awesome site and always has sweet graphics, but this WRF model is really nice now. You can get like data down to the neighborhood, lol. The local topography peice is great to go with the QPF and progs. That looks near perfect too in terms of historical placement of QPF...with like 1-4" down in the center of the village, ranging to 6-8"+ on the mountain. You can see the gradient in town on that map. It captures the localized nature of it well, with BTV seeing partly sunny skies while over 1/2" QPF falls 15-20 miles away.
powderfreak
Can also zoom in over SNE for QPF too... upslope for the northern Berks and southern Greens (Woodford area)...

Mr Torchey
Beautiful mornings the last week plus. Frost is cool (I was going to post something about a New York football team but that would not be nice) LOL, they are just horrible, the ownership has ruined this team and to think three years ago they had a fantastic nucleus. There is just a TOTAL lack of talent put on the field by the Jets. Frost is cool! This mornings had layers and ridges almost like it kept thawing then freezing again over night? HoarfrostHubb
I know here temps kept fluctuating a couple of degrees all night. Looking at a local mesosite temp graph it had several waves right around freezing. Neat effect on your frost

CoastalWx
FWIW I still wouldn't completely write off a little something next week. It's pretty clear models just crush every s/w coming down the pipe, but it won't take much to blow something up. It's still 5-6 days out and models have flipped before.
