THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If someone mentions it not getting cold, everyone tries to jump on them. Even when its obvious it won't snow or get cold.

wrong, you continue to miss the point. Everyone who is forecasting a colder pattern has laid out their reasons in detail. It's the ones who disagree who dont give their reasons other than "last winter was warm" "its just hype" wishcasting" very childish and non scientific if you ask me. Kinda like the Fishel tweets.

Same with the cold people. All this if and then junk is wishcasting also.

That's not wishcasting, it's laying out possibilities.  I have witnessed you posting that you know nothing about meteorology, so why would your definition of "wishcasting" weigh in on this anyway?

As far as the goose horn, the fact that you are still so stubborn that you refuse to recognize a changing pattern reveals that you only have one purpose here. You only post one side of a two sided discussion.  You are hell bent on this winter being a goose egg.  I expect you to explain yourself if you're wrong.

I meant like that crazy stuff in that other thread where I couldn't understand any of it.

Yeah I know the pattern is changing but how are we so sure its changing to a cold and snowy pattern? Just looks like it will remain dry if the cold ever comes. And what do you mean I only post one side of a two sided discussion? Aren't the folks who are cheering for the cold doing the same.

FWIW- My friends in Ontario just over the Minnesota border have posted a winter storm warning alert. If my IT executive were home from school, I could post it here but the jist of it is this: expect 25 to 30 centimeters of snowfall. According to my expert calculations, and thanks to government education, I think that equivocates to 7.2 feet.

Good thing the storm has been named Gandolf because that is a magical formula.

I would also like a meteorologically-backed opinion as to why a pattern change to transient or sustained cold (away from a SE ridge) ISN'T about to take place late next week

no wish-casting has taken place... if the pattern is full of horsestuff, it will be described as such

I see Mr. Bob saying very few mets have time to post their soliloquies (alright, cool story)... yet, all I have seen Bob post is Euro Weeklies & interestingly only when those weeklies have shown a warm forecast... yet, those weeklies are only posted from GaWx when they back up the cold argument (which they have backed up the cold argument the last week or so)

must be more fun to be a warm-homer these days, yet it's kind of odd to harp on warm when overwhelming evidence points to the contrary

there is zero meteorologially sound argument to the contrary of a cold pattern developing as the "currently strong" SE ridge gets choke-slammed next week

I think we need to place a tax of some sort on the term "wishcasting" - maybe it wouldn't get tossed about so loosely.

I've pretty much stopped putting any of my opinions about upcoming events on here.  I'm not a met, although I have some knowledge and a lot of experience especially about my own area.  I do ok quite often. However if I post my thoughts on here, I lay myself open to the wishcasting label.  I am not capable of explaining how a mouse fart in Viet Nam will affect the upper atmosphere thereby leading to a change in the AO. Therefore, anything I say must be just a wish.  Therefore, I say very little weather wise and play to my strength, which is finding humor in what others post and often responding in what I hope is a humorous way.  It's OK though.  Despite posting a few jokes and thoughts that fall flat I will put my verification score up against any met on here.  :)

Lolz exactly! Its seems everything in the world affects winter patterns. You don't hear all this junk in Summer. Next thing you know, the AAO will start to play a factor in winter cold for the East.

It's really too bad.  I don't need some 20 year old kid telling me I'm wishcasting when the term itself is absolutely ridiculous.

Wow.  Burns's comment either went way over your head - or way over mine.

Great post sir! I agree and follow the same MO , minus the humor post.

Both actually. After all, I do have a 148 IQ.

There's the burns we know and love.

In all seriousness, your posts are among some of the best I read on here.  I still remember the story you told about that heavy snow fall rate during the school day overcoming ground temps.

One of the favorite days of my life.
