Clinch Leatherwood
Days and days of 42-43 degrees. Yuck. I swear I've been between 42 and 44 for about 48 hours.
nzucker
You always seem to be making some awesome food. I love to cook too, I make eggplant Parmesan all the time as well as pasta with roasted eggplant, fire-roasted red pepper, and tomato sauce. As for other dishes, I do a lot of Thai stuff, like curries with coconut milk. I haven't been cooking as much lately as it's my first year in NYC public schools as a special education teacher and I've been insanely busy. 37.6/
ChrisM
That was pretty insane actually...very rare too see radar returns that good and not have steady snow falling. It was literally like 25 dbz for a time there. The low level dry air up there was ridiculous...never seen it so effective as to make 25 dbz almost flurries. Oh well, you win some and lose some. I was fortunate to be on the right side of that dewpoint gradient by a few miles. Makes up for the Feb 2010 event after the rainstorm where you got 10" and I had 3". I don't know what happened here...I was under heavier returns than blizz all night and it never got about mod snow here and he got 5" more right up the road. It was interesting. I would see 30dbz returns inbound and think we were going to get sn+ but it never happened

You have to keep in mind if you are near the edge, the radar returns are like 3000-4000 feet up.

The other thing he forgets..is I had reports of an inch OTG around lunchtime that day while he had barely a dusting..and he didn't believe my Tolland spotters reports i have around town when I'm not here. Then if you recall right around 4:00-5:00 there was a hvy burst of snow that had a little upslope component to it that was sitting right over Tolland that he did not have down in Storrs. Ginx even posted a radar still image of it if you go back in that thread..which probably dropped an additional 1-2 inches on top of what he was getting at the time..so that's 3 inches right there. Yeah you def had better returns than he did. You could see where the band was regenerating...almost over his head in Storrs...he wanted it to regenerate about 10 miles SE of where it was. OceanStWx
the coastal front was literally on top of BOX all storm so it was likely bright-banding from the large flakes. just my opinion. That's a pretty accurate description. Correlation was super low in that high reflectivity area, so mixed hydrometeors were dominating the signal there. Complete melting really wasn't occurring until just above the surface, which is why there is such a large area around the radar with that high reflectivity look. CapturedNature
Gotta love mesoscale banding. What I love here is you can see the importance of elevation in the NW Hills (only a little snow melted quickly in the valleys the following morning) while mesoscale banding from HVN to ORH trumps all. That's a nice shot right there...the timing was great because the snow must have still been sticking to the trees. You can see that on the cluster of all the evergreens in and around Union in NE CT and in the NW Hills.
