Kaner587
18.8" now officially in Central Park but some small events went under measured...The latest storm is the fifth storm 10" or more since 2010...it's the fourth storm 10" or more on Feb. 9-10th... I have now seen 1ft (assuming that 11.4 in central park could be called basically a foot) 7 times since Dec 2009. Prior to that jan 2005, feb 2003, (wasn't around for feb 2006). Dec 2003 ? was also like 14 IIRC in central park. These were seen in varying areas though, in westchester, long island and manhattan. I was also in syracuse for 4 years, but it wouldn't be fair to count the times I saw a foot up there (surprisingly only 3-4 times individual totals of 12+) Interestingly enough I have missed out on some biggies, either on vacation or in college...some notables Dec 2000 Dec 2002 Feb 2006 Dec 2010 Nov 2012 2 blizzards an MECS and 2 SECS. Thank god I was here for this one.

JCsnow17
Central Park should be over 23 inches on the season after todays storm. Hopefully the park can exceed 25 inches with more potential going forward.
uncle W
Central Park should be over 23 inches on the season after todays storm. Hopefully the park can exceed 25 inches with more potential going forward. Central park looks like it was short changed again...The 4" that fell brings the seasons total to 22.8"...Not to bad considering...
JCsnow17
Hard to believe considering obs between 11-1pm. Between this last storm and the under measurments of small events in February, Central Park should be closer to 25 inches but 22.8 as you said is fine. doncat
And notice how much lower they are for 2005-6.Yeah that was because of the feb. storm that gave cpk a record snowfall...was about 10 in. less here.
uncle W
Yeah that was because of the feb. storm that gave cpk a record snowfall...was about 10 in. less here. I measured 20" in Westerleigh on College Ave in Feb 2006...There must have been a sharp cut offf...April has 1.2" of snow while Central Park had 0.1"...That day almost 2" fell near Wagner College on the hill... Snow depth is a great way to measure a winters severity... After 1995 Central Park didn't record snow depth...I believe they started to record it again in 2006...I had to use La Guardia Airport observations a few years...A few numbers were estimated because of missing information or wrong info...These Snow depth days are days when some snow was on the ground at any time during the day...Max snow depth could have been a few inches more in some cases because of melting or compacting before the next 24hr observation...same for 1-20" obs... season........Days ...............consecutive days....Max depth.. ...................T 1" 4" 10"20"........
