Ginx snewx
Just to clarify, women do not get paid leave either. FMLA allows 12 weeks in a calendar year of unpaid leave for sick, babies and care of elderly relatives.

moneypitmike
Yes, that will be something to look forward to while you're changing diapers at 3:00am, or warming up bottles at 1:00am. It will take the pain of not being able to have sex for weeks to come after the baby is born. Great reason to stay up for the Euro. And the 06 NAM. When my daughter was a baby, I'd be up at 3-3:30 and would begin my day. Give her a bottle, fire up the computer then enjoy my coffee with the sunrise on the Kennebec. Remember those days fondly. Now, I sleep in to 5:00. Should push it up a little to enjoy a little longer a.m. solitary time. Paternity leave ftw. When my daughter was born I took 7 weeks. I can accumulate sick days and even with that for family leave 13 years ago, I still have 220 days in the bank. Since I'm working old I may need them....lol. In truth I have used maybe 10 in the past 28 years outside of when my daughter was born. Big winter incoming! Not tied to sick days but with regard to vacation time, I either get 3 or 4 weeks (plus 200 hours personal time). I can only carry over 40 hours to the new year, so I'm forced now to take time. Just put in for Mon-Wed of next week just so I don't lose it. Will have to cram more in December. Since my wife can't and daughter will be at school, nothing but cutting wood and model reviews, ftw. Our country has the wrong values in some area. When I was young having kids, I took 1 day off for my first and 1/2 day for his brother. Family medical leave is great but unpaid it's kind of worthless for someone in their 30s. Speaking of 30s, looking forward to walking home. Tough to run a company if you're paying people who aren't working, though. The fact that they have to keep your job for you is good enough in my book. But, enough of that talk....... Is the Euro still a cold rain? I don't' even know the time frame for this, should it occur. Wake me up when it drops below freezing--36/28. N. OF PIKE
Diaper blowout while milk burps flow all over his shoulder as he looks out at the floodlight at mangled flakes. yes! scott comes across to me as a very calm centered person, and it will take a special set of circumstances for him to lose it, but i think the stars may be getting into better allignment, for this to occur. could be something like you mentioned above, Perhaps the jubilation from child birth will cause him to lift a few caution flags leaving him open for the meltdown as the r/s line set up just to his West. i think the best time frame for this will be late dec-early january

earthlight
The Euro ensembles look way better than they did at this time last year. It was actually around this time last year when they started looking a lot worse...this year it is the opposite, they have looked better and better the last two or three days. Today's run being the best yet. I really like the idea of the blocking coming back this winter...especially after such a prolific event to lead us into Early November. We have some solar stuff to watch and also have to be very careful with the fragile Pacific. But I think we could be seeing the initial signals for it on the long range guidance. These things usually get rolled back a bit...but if all works out with the long range forecasts we could be eying mid December already which is pretty good at this juncture. earthlight
I also am not too sure on comparing everything to last winter...of course it will look better. Last winter was an unmitigated disaster through the holidays and the writing was on the wall for that by this time last year. What transpired around the holidays didn't help and ultimately we ended up losing the entire thing (some areas excluded, but for the most part it was a loss) ... so this year will look better no matter what. That being said -- there are many parts of this year that actually are starting to resemble some of the better winters and the trends leading up to them. ORH_wxman
1995-1996 and 1977-1978 were two blockbuster winters that hit just about all of the northeast U.S. I guess you could argue that '77-'78 was only decent down in N VA/DC, but overall I think it qualifies. Mr Torchey
Nice, 95/96 would have been crazy her .i know it was on ne.weather 95 96' was awesome but, for me its always 10-11 just because of the back to back to back monster storms and the 50+ days of snow pack in a row, and depth unheard of down here. The second half of Feb and March was dissapointing as far as additional snow but it stayed cold and the snow had incredible staying power. Amazing to see ne new england get flooded with maritime air, the blocks were insane as was the previous year.
