CoastalWx
There were three great meltdowns in the '10-'11 winter. Tip calling the 962 low meh was classic. Ryan with an uncharacteristic breakdown, and then Jerry cursing the east wind before getting 18" of snow.

If you go back to the obs thread in the first hour of the 1/12/11 event, there's probably a 3 page stretch where Jerry gives the temperature update every 5th or 6th post with it ticking upward by the second...convinced it would be 12/30/00 all over again, lol. But I learned a really cold 850 can change things. Heck, even last week when the winds were east it was in the m30s imby.

(although I think you are talking about a storm that busted hard on that date) Heck, every storm threat busted last year--all 2 of them! - speaking of torches-65 here under p/c skies... Similar to me during MLK storm and event after when Will got 20 + and I got 33 and a slushy coating Your meltdown after driving back home from work that day (the day after event) was epic...you assumed it would be ripping snow and 31F in Tolland since everyone up north was reporting snow and 850s were cold enough...even the coastal plain folks just west of BOS had snow. You get back and report 33F and rain at almost the same time I happened to post about 3 or 4 pics of monster quarter sized flakes ripping and like 8" of fresh snow...the meltdown that followed on the next page was definitely hall of fame material. One of the alltime greats. You had a pretty good meltdown too on 12/16/07 when MattMFer in RI was reporting S+ and you were getting sandblasted by pellets. (although I think you are talking about a storm that busted hard on that date) Heck, every storm threat busted last year--all 2 of them! Every event was a screwjob here locally. Every one. I don't count the October storm since that is a freak of nature and I never realistically expect frozen before Thanksgiving. When Phil got more than my seasonal total in one storm...I knew it was time for a Sarah Mclachlan bath.

Yeah but I still had 6-7 inches that day when people in all 4 directions had snow while I was ripping pock marks off the scalp. So I took some solace in that. That day when I got home and saw your posts and pictures of you in your Mighty Mac winter coat and Megan prancing and dancing thru the woods in deep snow I just snapped. I can remember that like it was yesterday. I completely lost it. I was so irate, lol

I distinctly remember having a mini-meltdown over that one sitting in RA in Boston while ORH got clocked... part of the meltdown was the Taunton went WSW and I knew we weren't cold enough. No, the MLK storm Kevin melted down in was 2010. The 2006 storm you are thinking of is probably Jan 2-3, 2006. A marginal airmass and heavy QPF that stopped at a brick wall just north of BOS-ORH line. Elevations did well in that south of that line. The funny part about that storm was that was one fo the first times Kevin was dumbfounded at sleet while it was snowing here...a sneaky warm layer got into E CT that changed it to sleet for a few hours which cut off several inches from their eventual totals. CoastalWx
MEX rip and read? It has 49, 51, 53 for Fri-Sun at BOS. Bingo. I think this is one of those deals where model surface temps may be better. Seems like NWS also agrees too as their highs are lower. Maybe LL gets into lower 50s with N-NE winds warming a bit near there.
