dryslot
My town is big enough and geographically diverse enough tget a good feel for snowfall by driving around. Sometimes I'll drive up some of the higher hills, especially in marginal temp events early in the year, just to see flakes. As soon as the trails open I always make a point to drive by any trail crossings to see who has groomed That i will do, If i am going to someones house that has snow, I am ripping up there lawn........... wxmanmitch
A few upslope snow flurries dancing in the NW wind here. It's about all the love I'm gonna get from this I'm afraid. Glad others got to experience an exciting storm.
CoastalWx
Weenie drives are the best. I went on one after the October storm last year to see where the snow started. Remarkably similar this go around.

Well I had only an inch, but there was 2-3 OTG near Randolph/Canton line and 4-5 past Canton even the next day.

Damage In Tolland
I go for weenie drives too. But never to verify someone's totals and then outright call them a liar without any cause or reason. I got 9 inches, and it matches up well with surrounding towns and qpf . It is what it is. People can choose to believe it or not. Just don't come on here and call me a liar. That's my main issue.

Love the look. I have done this since I had a license, being on the coastal plain meant often driving to experience snow, sorry call me a weirdo. Guess its as weird as driving to see heavy rain and meh winds in Noel?

I don't even know If I was anywhere near your house and could care less if I was. My interest was peaked by a claim of a snow total that is double what I had and I was curious if it was true. I had to visit the Tolland post office and decided to take route 74 home which looks to be on Paulk Hill and near the highest point in Tolland. If you think I am stalking you you have serious insecurity issues. I did not call you a liar, If you got 9" of snow good for you. I for one am done with this. CT Rain
Well it gets a little scary when you have people driving to your house from other towns to check your snowfall amounts. I mean wtf? Lines need to drawn somewhere Who in God's name drove to your house? That is beyond scary man. Messengers trip up and down the East Coast during one of our storms to verify reports will forever live in the history of this forum. hahaha... probably one of the funniest forum memories I have is cweat's pictures on Route 6 chasing Phil across the Cape with a ruler. We'll just have to disagree...I know many members on here have gone to neighboring towns to check snowfall. Will goes to Weenie Ridge, I drive through the mountains, Ryan brings live TV trucks with him...40/70 always talks about a storm where the PNS said 3 feet in the next town while he had a foot and he had to drive there to believe it.... If you are telling me you didn't drive around after Sandy to check out other neighboring towns? What about chasing severe storms? Someone says they have lots of trees down, you've got Wiz in your yard an hour later... I've actually taken a news van to Kevin's house to see how much snow he had. So it's really not that unusual lol.

HoarfrostHubb
I drove up to Princeton on Feb 27th 2010 to see if they actually got 10" of snow. I had 3" in my backyard. Hubbdave, subdude and a poster from Royalston all reported huge totals. I didn't necessarily think they were wrong, but I had to see it for myself. I was just amazed it could have been that much more snow so close to me. Sure enough as I drove through Holden on the north side near the Princeton line the snow just got exponentially deeper. I loved that event... Skiing in powder the night before and having it pile up on my helmet, then waking up to 10+" of perfect fluff. But I was still bested by a lady up the street who had 12" (I measured). Weird small scale effect
