TWCCraig
In a dry slot right now. Could those heavier bands southeast of here move onshore and set up some good banding?
ag3
Yup...0.7 at 7pm, JFK was 2.1. My friend near Fresh Meadows said he was 5.1 as of 10 minutes ago and the Bayside NWS observer's 4.2 at 7pm confirms thats probably close. .7"? Lol. For real? famartin
On further look they noted "ASOS" under the measurement, wonder if they're just adding up the QPF and going 10 to 1 on it since the observer does not measure til 11pm ? No, standard measurement time is 1AM, 7AM, 1PM, 7PM and midnight.
MJO812
A spotter measured 1 inch of snow in Sheepshead Bay. I can tell you that is 100 percent wrong.

JERSEYSNOWROB
Just think, this was supposed to be Philly..lol. I saved some nice frontogenesis maps. I was right on the edge (or so i thought) of the snow/rain line here in NW Monmouth County going into this and now here I am pushing 5-6 inches of snow! ha ha ha Unbelievable. I feel horrible for the Philly guys though.
BuffaloWeather
Let me get this right....The same regions that got the worst hit from Hurricane Sandy are getting a snowstorm of 4-8 inches with 40-50 mph winds. Jeez....
Guest Pamela
Snow has stopped here now; i guess that's about it for us... Really jealous of those under that band lol Snow (or at worst, freezing drizzle...but probbaly snow) should re-develop over the course of the next couple hours...especially for eastern sections. Jeez.... Maybe down by the Jersey shore and in Long Island they are getting those winds but here in eastern Bergen and likely in NYC proper the winds are nowhere near that speed thankfully. uncle W
Disagree. An early November snowfall is quite a bit more rare than an early April snowfall. To say this isn't a big deal is very far from the truth. the only storms that compare with this since 1869 are last October 29th and November 6th 1953... NorEaster27
5.5 inches on table 4 inches on pavement! This destoryes the October snow of last year here and is the biggest snow storm since two winters ago.

This will probably go down as one of the biggest surprise snows in many a year. Not often in these days of high-tech modelling that you get caught off-guard.
