NorEastermass128
Local mets here in Connecticut see this storm as being no big deal for Northern Connectticut with 1-2" of sloppy snow along with some wind. That sounds reasonable. No?

CoastalWx
it still sort of has a two part look with a nice area of QPF in ern MA. There looks to be a CF too.

Tropopause_Fold
euro is plenty cold. could probably tack on some areas east of the W MA / NW CT / SE NY / NNJ favored spots if that verifies. would be some accumulating snow in ORH, KTOL without much trouble i'd think. Yeah it has some sort of a CCB look into ern MA, albeit weak. Then maybe a mid level deal in the berks or something, but this run is cold. It also doesn't wrap up a ton and flood the atmosphere aloft with warm air.

ORH_wxman
I still think 1-3" sounds solid for the interior elevations...if we can get a higher consensus on a bit heavier precip, then we could probably maybe go low end advisory amounts (2-5") for the hills and 1-3" for the CP right off the water....but until that happens, definitely better to hedge less with the more disorganized/lighter precip look. The cold is very impressive though.
40/70 Benchmark
13' storm surge for Northern Connecticut? Interesting I meant the state...but yes, I'd say n CT had it worse in Sandy, than they will in this.

CoastalWx
Scha - weet. I'd take an inch and be happy. Someone will get screwed and someone will be happy. I wouldn't hedge more than a few inches max in spots..maybe a 2-4 deal in wrn areas until more proof rolls in. Nice to see the euro and models look a little better this aftn. CoastalWx
The weenie maps still say MPM is best area for frontogenesis as dryslot tries to work in from ORH-BDL and SE. The area of higher QPF in ern areas may be due to low level frontogenesis, but temps here may not be conducive. There is a warmer layer aloft as it seems like critical thicknesses are far NW of the 0C 850 line.
subdude
I'll take 3-6" for first seasons snowfall. That's a respectable amount.
CoastalWx
I think even a 2-5 deal is respectable for western MA right now.

radarman
Really tough call for the valley. Every instinct is to assume BL problems but it doesn't seem to be a major issue in this setup. I suppose the limiting factor will instead be downsloping on east winds leading to weak echoes. But still forecasting a wintry end-of-day commute for campus, and historically the first one of those is a bit of a mess.

ctsnowstorm628
Looks like the NW hills of CT and Mass could definitely pick up 2-4" with maybe a 5" amount...maybe 1-3" for ORH/TOL?
