I know I don't have the best maps out there but I'm only limited as far as my resources go and try to do the best with what I have available to me. I also spend a great deal of time with how I want to make them and get frustrated with how they look so I usually do several do-overs and get pissed off.

Your maps are fine.

Sam's are my favorite, though.

Scott, how much of a danger is this storm in terms of recovery efforts from Sandy, specifically around the NYC area?

Depends on how it tracks Nate. If it curls into the area south of LI, it could be a big problem. However, a BM track means winds mostly stay north and that will limit water rise obviously.

925mb winds do get up around 70 knots on the 18z GFS for the NYC metro, however, which could spell trouble if we have crews still trying to restore power. The infrastructure is very vulnerable right now, as we still have trees and utility poles that are leaning, some power lines appear to have been tacked back up quickly, and gas/food are in short supply. Definitely not the time for a large-scale Nor'easter. The GGEM was very aggressive with a 968mb low and the GFS seems to be settling in around 980mb. With a fairly strong high over eastern Canada, it could get quite windy.
