Deck Pic
as someone who spent 4+ years in Millersville, i'd say york/lancaster counties have climates more akin to Baltimore/N. MD than Philly.....and i always considered them part of the Mid-Atlantic...could have been more out of disdain for Philly though.... but there are 2 PA forums
CranberryWX
any less worthy of the forum than someone in western WV but eh. lol...I wonder who you are referring too. Anyway, we're transferring to Houston this summer so you guys only have to put up with my occasional obs a few more months.

I-83 BLIZZARD
Anywhere from York south is basically a Baltimore suburb. I commute 40 miles to Baltimore and most neighbors here work in Hunt Valley which is a 20 minute drive and Towson. Southern York, Adams, and Lancaster counties are more in tune with Baltimore, then Harrisburg and Philly. Baltimore County fire department responds to calls here when locals are backed up. Superstorm
Kinda disagree. If it is snowing in MDT or PHL, most guaranteed to be snowing in York and Lancaster. Not necessarily the case if it is snowing in BWI and PHL. Being further north does help. have seen slopfests in northeast MD, and then heavy snow right across the border. Many events like the Christmas storm in 2002 and Halloween snowstorm brought us several inches of snow, where it was nothing once you got to BWI. I always appreciated your obs...plus you don't have a forum you really fit into nicely...We are as appropriate as ohio valley or perhaps more so....There is a specific forum for south central PA...it is mentioned exactly in the description of the forum....the 2 aren't remotely analogous....I'd expect someone in South central PA to post in the forum that specifically says "south central PA"...I don't really see the need for interpretation there
Deck Pic
Maybe I am obtuse or missing something...I never knew the guidance was that our weather is "similar"..Perhaps the subtext stating "South Central PA" is not clear... mattie g
Seems I stirred up a small hornet's nest. I really didn't mean to. I was just a little salty seeing someone outside this region's forum posting snow obs that pretty much none of us in this region were seeing. Maybe I'm bitter about missing out on a wet car-topper before December. Or not.

It's really stupid to make a big deal out of it (not directed at you). If I'm someone that works in the Baltimore metro area and live 5 miles north of the border in Shrewsbury, I probably have an interest in the weather for both locations and I'm not going to be posting in two separate subforums. When I want to report on the weather while at work I post in one forum and while at home I post in another?? Yeah, sure.
ravensrule
except there are already 2 forums for PA posters and the mid-Atlantic one does encompass western VA and WV. not everything in this world revolves around DC or Baltimore. Yes it does.

Yeah, sure. maybe because i follow justin berk on fb but i sorta consider that part of S PA as part of our region. weather seems quite similar to n md. obviously once you're talking like central pa or something it becomes a bit more questionable but if you're in hanover, york, etc. it could really go either way imo. snow weenies... I always saw this forum as hopefully being welcoming to people who aren't that technically adept....you don't want to alienate the H***ward's of the world who don't know how to self configure or what buckets are...But yes...it is not an ideal interface either way...it mainly caters to a smaller group of regs...which maybe it should anyway since we use it the most and contribute the most
