Not that I think anything of significance is possible, but anyone remember that december 9 overnight event in 2009 after the dec 5 event where all of us were progged to get rain but portions of Baltimore Carroll etc. got 2-3" or more with heavy snow for a few hours? That was similar in a way to this event though sfc progs are a big warmer for this one. Just a thought

I was thinking about that one earlier, and you're right about the temps. It was colder that night, but the upper levels were supposed to be too warm. Didn't work out that way.

Sure is a good slug of moisture back into KY. Wait and see I guess.

Yeah I mean that strikes my memory as an event that was really a nice surprise for some, like the morning of Commutageddon where we got 3-4" around Baltimore of surprise AM stuff. But back to 12/9/09 I got a heavy dosage of sleet, and I'm not weeniecasting here but temps are falling quickly and dews aren't overly terrible.

With some heavy precip, some isolated areas could get some snow. North of Baltimore temps are already 33-36, and dropping. This is more relevant for you, but I'm glad you remember, it was a nice surprise and radar looks promising for those hoping for snow who are expecting it. Convective stuff does exist, NWS State College even mentions it in their AFD.

I've wondered about that cause they have two forums of their own....phl and the PA/NY one that has a thread for central PA but seem to prefer our forum even though I think for those near Lancaster and Harrisburg , the other forums are closer to them. Anyway, no surprises concerning the sister, the models prety much said it would be too warm for snow in the DC, Baltimore area clear back to Lessburg and Frederick and that's what we've got.

I don't mind at all when we get good input from folks in other regions (especially met and/or knoweldegable hobbyist forecast and model discussion), but it kind of sucks to have reports of snow from other places while we're stuck with cool drizzle, even when those obs come from posters who spend a decent amount of time here.

The boundaries are nebulous. Not sure someone who lives right over the PA line is any less worthy of the forum than someone in western WV but eh.

except there are already 2 forums for PA posters and the mid-Atlantic one does encompass western VA and WV. not everything in this world revolves around DC or Baltimore.

you've noted this a few times recently without regard to the fact that like 75% of the posters live in that area. not our fault that's where the population is.

I am commenting more on the sense I am getting that obs from areas outside of DC/Baltimore but still within the geographic boundaries of the forum are somehow unwelcome--and I see now why the folks down in Richmond decided to start a separate thread for their wx events.

They do mainly because they want to. We've had a million threads that were open to the whole forum and they stayed in their little group. Which since their weather is often quite different doesn't make too little sense. It's early for strawmen.

Its November man...

~Snet form a deivce that cannot speel.

I know. But I say this based on my expectations for this winter, rather than one or two *really* early snow threats that we've missed.

I personally think we'll see some snow, but nothing terribly exciting. Cool and dry, with intermittent shots at small snowfalls in general, then one or two potential bigger hits late in the season (with typical precip issues leaving everyones' fingernails in tatters).

Millersville is not even sniffing this forum....no reason for them to be here....WV burbs are closer and they don't have another forum.....

as someone who spent 4+ years in Millersville, i'd say york/lancaster counties have climates more akin to Baltimore/N. MD than Philly.....and i always considered them part of the Mid-Atlantic...could have been more out of disdain for Philly though....

I'm just complaining for the sake of complaining.

We should have a separate forum for Oakland and Davis and anyone else who lives in the elevated hinterlands.

I can't speak for other PA posters who chime in on the mid atlantic section, but on occasion i will post ops from the Harrisburg area and i do so because somewhere along the line someone ask me to. I'll refrain in the future.

No, you post here anytime you want and whatever you want. Fellow PBR drinkers cover each other's backs man! I even think it's law in some counties.
