lol@ some of y'all. I'll try to be as nice as i can in this post.

In the past, there have been a number of people here who have come out and said that the ones complaining the most about weenies and their posts are being too serious and should relax. Some have even said that the MA "police" are just as bad as those who are making the terrible posts leading up to and during events. Posts are made in the banter thread where they belong but plenty of bad posts are still made in the main threads but that is ok according to the masses here. Fine.

So last night, after we bust(which should come as no surprise to those who have lived here for any length of time) a guy from another area came in and trolled. Some laughed it off and others got chapped asses. All this over snow that didn't even happen. The ones who laughed did so because it was AFTER the event and by taking the cues from soooooo many here to lighten up, they did. Now a few of you who have told others in the past to chill out and enjoy wx are all bent out of shape and not only at the trolling but those who laughed. Irony at its finest.

Can't have it both ways. you either laugh at the trolling like you do at the weenie posts that y'all seem to tolerate or you say the MA is super serious 24/7 and trolling/weenie posts are verboten. it's a mixed message you all are giving out right now.

I'm sure I'll end up on the wrong side of this fight again anyways so have fun!

Well said H20. But there is one fundamental difference here and it's a byproduct of subforums. Bad analysis and weenie posts from people that live in the MA is a bit more tolerable than someone making a concerted effort to jump county lines with the sole intention of pissing people off. That's really the only issue at hand. MA people trolling the MA forum is a bit more funny that cross forum stuff.

I personally don't care at all and I've always supported less vs more moderation and I've said as much many times. I'm pretty sure you and I are quite similar there. The only time I would ever push for heavy moderation is if it become offensive. That type of flavor can stay on marge.com.

To be honest, from my humorous side, sure it was funny, and I enjoyed it. Despite that however, I feel as though the cross trolling had some deep sarcasm and intentions. Funny? Sure. Uncalled for? Definitely, and the way he went about it is enough to p/o some people. In that case, and judging by those like Bob who felt the same way, he needed to be put in place, and he introduced it right off the bat about the 10 inches, then the Randy comment was made. Make an OT about it or something I don't know, we are in a weather black hole but still I'm not sure it belonged.

weenie analysis belongs in the banter thread because it's noise, not signal. there is zero value to non-factual or wrong information posted in a model analysis thread.

yeah but then these rules have to be followed by everyone and they arent. just because someone's been around for years and CAN do better analysis they shouldn't be given a free pass to post whatever they want wherever under these types of rules.

but overall i think some of you want things too sterile and it would be a detriment in the long run. no topics stay fully on topic and better discussion can emerge in that environment.

The trolling has gone both ways for years. It was even worse on the old forum. 09/10 SNE took their share of ribbing from the MA crowd. I guess its how you let it effect you. They live in the right area for snow. We dont. But I think the positive to that is that we enjoy snow more when we get it. To them its just a normal winter day. For us its a treat. Besides we get to enjoy 60's and 70's in March and April while they freeze their balls off.

I think a better punishment would have been just to bar him from ever posting in the MA subforum again. If he wants to spew his crap in the NE subforum and they don't mind it than more power to him.

He doesn't troll in the NE subforum. He actually doesn't really post all that frequently to begin with. But as I mentioned before in the NE subforum, I was not on last night when he came in here. I wouldn't have tolerated it.

I agree...and the punishments will go both ways. We're sick of dealing with cross trolling. It can be innocent ribbing, but it'll get out of hand at some point.

Will i know you would not have. I cannot believe you have a life and had the nerve not to be on this board from 8:30 p.m. on. The reason it went on here is because Ian has retired and Randy and MIdlo were not on last night. I am sure it will not happen again. Please don't take my comments on the NE subforum as any jab at you at all.

Fair enough IMO. Much of it has to do with intentions anyway. A fun troll is easy to recognize and so is one made in bad faith with the sole purpose of being a d!ck towards people. twright was being a d!ck.

I still thought it was funny. My shots at the cowboys probably made him madder than anything from the ma members. Most Cowboys fans are the easy as heck to piss off. But I apologize to Ian. He's a good cowboys fan.

were any reports made on his posts?

I know that many mods do not like to moderate outside their forum, but obviously if no moderator to a particular subforum is online and available to moderate, a mod from an outside region should do so.

However, no mod would know anything is wrong if the posts are not reported.

No such thing. Ever. Only thing that can salvage his rep is to repent and change to the Texans
