1/4 should be heavy snow, per most station's standards, especially with almost no wind.

close to SN+ in Lacon IL

Yeah that is supposed to be heavy snow. The ASOS precip sensor has a response time and sometimes when snow increases at the last second it won't change the intensity modifer in time for the report even though the visibility changes. Manned stations will correct this in time. The machine did this all the time at KGFK and we would have to send out COR's if we didn't catch it in time because the machine would suddenly change the ob if we didn't "lock it in" before the observation went out.

It is realistic, just looks funny.

I like HPC's quadruple surface low map.

Four low pressures means the weather could be four times as bad, right?

Ha Ha

Hey guys, I am planning to drive from Toledo back to Colorado tomorrow. I should see some wet roads but not too much to worry about. I may only make it to Iowa or Nebraska.

WWA up for most of Central Indiana..

FZDZ or -ZR for the morning rush FTL. Although I think we'll manage to poke above freezing here overnight/tomorrow, although even with that, surfaces could remain icy due to the constant cold of this month. Saw that happen a couple of winters ago.

Radar returns inching their way closer...
