No snow IMBY, but was it ever cold!! High temp was 41.0. I checked my records from last year, and the first time all 2011-2012 winter that I had a high temp that low IMBY was on January 3 (32.2)! In fact, that was the only day from last winter that had a high temp lower than today's high temp. Yeah, last year sucked in the whole cold and snow department. But, we already knew that. Let's hope today is the start of better things to come for this winter...

28 degrees w/ freezing fog around Wilkesboro right now...already very frosty outside...the dampness from the snow/rain earlier has frozen over.

Watching the precip over Chattanooga,TN...if anything survives east of the mountains...(esp. foothills of NC)...may see another day of snow showers! Looks like the middle to southern foothills may have a better shot though with precip chances.

Coldest morning of the fall/winter season so far. The temp made it down to 28.5 IMBY this morning with very heavy frost. This is the first day of the season with a temperature reading below freezing. Needless to say, NWS-GSP left the frost advisories behind and went straight for the freeze warning here in the NW piedmont of NC. It is cold. I did pick up 0.02 inch of rain from a few sprinkles yesterday, but I'm still hurting for moisture.

Interesting....

We are currently getting a downpour here in Dahlonega so I went and looked on the deck and low and behold...lots of sleet mixed in. Nice. Temp is 45 IMBY. Yes I know the PIC is lame but it is the first winter type precip IMBY.

Good for Atl, and Dawson, up in the Gold Capitall! I knew with the 850's being prime as the upper air disturbance moved in there was a chance for something, but I figured the ground temps to be too high. I added a few hundred's today to my rain totals, but didn't quite make 1.47. T

Edit: Sorry about the miss type on the total....wish I'd gotten 1.7...so I guess it was a Freudian slip.

Congrats to those who saw sleet!!! We didn't see anything down here, though there are still a few sprinkles on radar *crosses fingers*

The thing we got was gusts over 30 mph! That was awesome, as usual.

Dsaur, can you send your moles down here to give us rain??? PLEASE! smile.png

Wow, I can't believe you are getting wind like that. Since I thrilled to that cad wind yesterday late, I haven't enjoyed much wind today. But the night long rain was the most valuable. And the drizzle today.

I'm very surprised this Mole created rain station I'm in isn't helping you too. I mean you aren't that far from me. I guess the tracks are just a bit askew down there. I'll speak to weather critters, and try to straighten that out :) All I know is that after being shafted for so long, the few big events I've gotten since summer have been life affirming, lol.

Now, the real indicator of a turn around in the micro climates around here, will be a winter long string of gom lows, plus, a big ice storm, followed by a nice sleet/snow storm. Along with hail, you haven't yet enjoyed a central Ga. shocker :) Though I suspect when it comes you'll be on air the whole time and will miss a lot of it, lol. Sorry, I shouldn't laugh :) Good luck to us all this winter. Until it starts up in mid Dec. I can hope and wish up a storm....... then it becomes Mole time :) Tony

Ha! Right!? I don't know how it's been so different, but oh well.

I certainly hope it starts up in mid-December, because I'll be in DC/NYC the first week of December. Of course, the two years I've been here, we've seen a few flurries the first week of December. We'll see if that continues this year. :)
