Ginx snewx
The stone up on the cartpath at the Misquamicut Golf Course is inscribed with the 1938 hurricane high water. Check out the debris line. This is 3/4 mile from the beach. This is the inscribed rock, I posted these two pics this summer, next one shows the view of the ocean way in the distance and the barrier beach at the time. That dune was flattened and the water rose to where the above debris line is. That's a good ten feet below 38 but still about 12 feet above the pond. Some strange water level marks in various areas of SW RI

Ginx snewx
Went to Misquamicut today. 4 weeks later and it's still a major disaster area. Side streets up to a 1/2 mile from the beach had water as high as 42 inches high. The beach in spots now at high tide comes in 120 + feet from prior to Sandy. Debris is everywhere. I was really surprised at the dune destruction in the middle section of the barrier beach where many homes were damaged

Ginx snewx
I am standing at normal highest tide level prior to Sandy. This was my beach when I lifeguarded. Chris M had posted a picture this summer from the same spot.

Ginx snewx
The debris field at the Weekapaug Breachway. The surge was about 5 feet here on the Eastern end of the barrier beach, while on the Western end it looked to me to be 7 or so. Hard to see what we all knew someday would happen. The cuts in the big dunes in Weekapaug revealed the striations left by 54 and 38, pulled out a couple of bottles from those eras.
