Dr No
Boy the Euro bombs this out and pretty much creates a PV off of the NC coast. Seeing we can't even get a consensus on anything within 72 going to be a long 6 days ahead.

stormtracker
Well, its time to focus on this one. 84 hour NAM looks juicy for this threat....6z GFS looked promising before it broke it apart once it hit the mountains

NoVaSnow
a nickle and dime winter almost as good as getting multiple hecs! In all seriousness, nickles and dimes with sustained cold works for me. I love a blockbuster as much as anyone, but when it melts in a few days (as has happened numerous times), I'm disappointed. As long as the ground stays white, I'm happy.

When I get home in 2 hours, I expect my neighborhood to still look pretty wintry. This is how it looks right now from my window in Crystal City. The grassy area in the first photo looks the same as it looked yesterday afternoon and this morning. No significant melting. In the second photo, notice the DCA tower in the background. At my home in western Fairfax County, the grass was completely covered yesterday. I may see a few blades when I get home, but it should still be snow covered. I second this post emphatically. Big, huge snows like last year are cool about once every 10 years. They are too much work, too many headaches. If I can have 80 inches this year like last year, I would love 26, 3 inch events. I know that would never happen, but you get my point.

Herb@MAWS
I'll 3rd this -- it's winter, and I like to see things stay white and covered.

WinterWxLuvr
This is probably the most depressing winter day so far in tracking storms Yeah, but for the past two years, it seems that every time we hit bottom, it's about 48 hours until everything turns great again. Let's see if it happens this time.
aldie 22
GFS still says some light snow back here possibly 1/2 inch or so.
gymengineer
The GFS has too long a period of very light snow. It will be fine tuned as we get much closer in like clipper forecasts always have to be. We don't see 1/2" of snow resulting from like 12 hours of flurries. ThePhotoGuy
I'm less impressed with this over the last 24 hrs or so... Usually we do better on the first threat than the second, maybe this time we will do better on the second than the first.
