north pgh
Why don't we start this as our new thread and let them lock the other. Now let's focus on this storm and get ready for some snow storms to track.
jwilson
Blizzard Warnings now issued just to my East for the higher elevations. There is a little chatter that the snow level could drop down to 1,000 ft., but generally I think it will be difficult for us to get accumulating snow. I can hope we get blizzard criteria here, but really I expect it to just be cold rain. How much are the PGH guys talking about snow up there? Honestly I have not had time to pay attention to local news. It seems there isn't much confidence in what forecasters think will happen once this storm gets going over land. That's probably in part to the unprecedented nature of this system. To my untrained eye, there are some similarities to the March of '93 event, I think (absent the triple-phasing, of course). If this was happening a month later we would probably be seeing snow only.
north pgh
The thing that bothers me the most with this storm is the strongest winds will be between 7 pm tomorrow night and 7 am on Tuesday. It will be dark and I will not be able to see any damage to my trees unless I go outside at night in the dark. It will probably be a rough night sleeping with the wind blowing the trees and against the house.

I should sleep tonight because I probably won't much tomorrow with 50-60 MPH gusts howling all night outside my window. On a side note, this is going to make my job a living hell the next month. I work in a call center for a home security company, and when a customer's system has a low back up battery, they call us.....we have a very large cusotmer base in the mid atlantic, and when Irene hit it was bad...this will be worse. Rolling Snowed
I'm going into work at 11am...meaning I'll be driving home at 8pm. Not gonna lie, I am definitely not looking forward to the drive home tonight. Taking a bag w/extra clothes, have some cash, etc, just to be prepared. Looks like our worst should be 8pm tonight to 8am tomorrow, it's exciting and a bit worrisome.

jwilson
Yeah winds are starting to move, they've been non-existent prior to now. Just sitting in my parked car a little bit ago it was getting rocked back and forth. I can't confirm any speeds as of yet. Roadways are also very saturated; there's little place for the water left to go and we haven't gotten the heaviest rain yet.

Paweatherguy1
Stunning right now. I am seeing power flashes all around me, but where I am (in Emsworth) linds are no more than 20MPH. However, I walked up to my car, and I can hear winds ripping through the hills above the valley. Pretty eery to be honest.

Rolling Snowed
Where you live? Just made it home from Moon Twp to Canonsburg. It was a miserable drive out the Parkway and down 79. I also believe I saw some power flashes off the low cloud deck. Lots of white knuckling, looking at the obs, KPIT gusted to 48 mph in the past hour.
