The news stations are behind the ball 3-4 hours on this storm movement which is now faster, Cimino just showed 86 mph gusts at midnight, no way we would see gusts that strong at that point, if its going to happen its going to be 4pm-8 or 9pm or so

Isn't high tide around +/- 8pm? If so, the speed up of Sandy is bad news.

May have been reported already but my cousin in Seaside Beach, NJ reporting the beach is gone and parts of the boardwalk are destroyed.

In that particular pic, from what I heard, those parts of the boardwalk that appear to have been swept away by the storm actually weren't in place prior to the storm because they are being replaced.

The times vary quite a bit, for some locations on the south shore of LI the speed up is bad because high tide times are 10-11pm which now may enable more time of S-SE winds now which is a problem. The news could be better though for places facing north where high tide is 10pm because now the winds could come south a couple of hours in advance.

High tide here is about 8-8:30 tonight. So if there's a landfall at around 0z, that's really bad news for the South Shore.

25 sustained, 36 gusts and rising...I could see a couple 60-70mph reports inland.

I feel like each gust is stronger than the other.

The saturation to the ground down that way because of all the rain that has occurred will probably result in a crazy number of downed trees, those areas also had less trees go down from Irene to begin with compared to coastal areas.
