Dsnowx53
starting to get some big gusts here on the Island..could have been 45 or so a few mins ago Considering FRG had 47, certainly seems possible. SnowGoose69
Almost 3,000 customers out of power on LI already. If we get any 80-90 mph gusts I'm guessing we get to around 1.8 out of the total 3 million out. That would beat Irene and Gloria by about a multiple of 3...of course in 1985 having 500,000 people out was alot...population of LI than may have only been 1.5 million. psv88
Upton now saying gusts 80 to 85mph with possible gusts up to 90mph on the south shore. yea at the shore...which means gusts 30 mph more than JFK is seeing now, inland its translating a good 15 mph slower speeds, so for most of us gusts in the 65-75 range
jm1220
Yeah, the high tide cycle tonight is going to be extremely dangerous with historic tidal flooding along the barrier islands and back bays and harbors. When the winds switch to southeast this evening, a lot of those areas will be inundated for sure. NWS called for 6-11 foot surge for back bays I believe? Meaning that for us, the Reynolds Channel will rise just as much or more than the ocean? Wicked...
