andyhb
will the bands developing to the south and east make it into our area? I'd tend to think so. They are rotating northward quickly.
HurricaneJosh
All three major airports have reported hurricane force wind gusts! So far: LGA 74mph JFK 79mph EWR 78mph Wow! That is really awesome. I wonder when these three airports all recorded hurricane gusts in a single cyclone. Really impressed with these data. It's a good storm! Sampson
Sitting here in darkness with a remarkably strong signal and the wind howling is howling throughout the house. A large pine imby fell and clipped the side of my house breaking the bedroom window and damaging the roof. It then proceeded to seesaw over my house and into my driveway crushing my car's windshield and possibly more. When will this thing fkin end? famartin
Parents have lost internet so I won't get updates on the wx station there. TTN ASOS may have also lost power. My parents have a generator and the Davis has batteries so the home Davis should keep recording data even if the power goes out, but I probably won't have any further updates til morning. HurricaneJosh
Unconfirmed report of a 100mph gust at the Triborough Bridge. Is that elevated? What impresses me about the airport data is that those are scientifically-controlled, 10-m readings.
Chris L
I still have power, amazingly. Winds gusts up to 77 mph in Newark, NJ. I am around that ballpark. Absolutely incredible. It's like a airplane roaring.

audioguy3107
ABC 7 is reporting that areas around ground zero have started to flood. They just reported live from Chelsea near 23rd street and all you could see was water behind the reporter. Amazing.
Alpha5
Watching ABC now, Hudson has crossed over into the lower west side. Saw a shot from 10th avenue and 23rd with everything underwater. So it appears that both sides of the river are getting pounded

RU848789
Lost power about 4 hours ago - huge, 4-foot diameter oak tree across the street just fell and took down a bunch of wires. Am on a cell phone hotspot occasionally and probably won't have power for days, if I had to guess. Wife says hot spot power doesn't last long, although we do have a large battery charger device all charged up (not sure how long that lasts, either). Probably won't be posting much from here on. Wish I had the TV to see the coverage - have no idea how bad it got, especially along the Shore. However, I did just spend about 15 minutes walking around outside (avoiding trees, of course) and it's unfreakingbelievably amazing out there! Apart from the downed tree and no power, the power of nature is simply awesome. Wish we could have weather like this all the time without causing damage or hurting people. Will check back in later. Sampson
Oh, wow. That's kind of harsh. Stay safe! Have my 1 year old and 4 year old in the basement with my wife and mother. We can replace all the damaged goods as long as we stay safe. That's the main goal right now. I can't believe I'm even saying this.
