rygar
And frankly, the winds at night can be terrifying compared to the day. Obvious, but I needed to get that off my chest.

CharlestonNYC
Lee Goldberg could be right, this may almost be some sort of an eyewall formation. It really does look that way. There is a huge central area of clearing surrounded by a much larger ring of precip. Such a bizarre transformation from hurricane into nor-eastercane. Really, really interesting from an academic perspective.
Dsnowx53
A shingle just blew off my roof. It was from the edge of the roof, but still...never seen that before. I'm scared.
Euripides
Went outside for a few minutes to get video (more for the sound of the wind). Raced back in with a huge gust. Saw lightning but then realized it was most likely a transformer.
pazzo83
Holy hell, just walked to the end of 50th St (past 1 ave). Easily gusts approaching 70mph. It was hard to stand. The east river looks to be about 6-10" from overtopping the concrete barrier in this section.

winterwx21
It's like the end of the world outside. Imagine going through the eyewall of a cat 4/5 hurricane. This is nothing compared to that. People down south would call this a weak storm. I know it isn't for us, but to them this would not be a big deal.
