Cyg
Tree toppled over down the street and is laying on the power lines. It must have jolted the poles as a guide wire snapped off and is laying on the ground. Somehow we still have power but it probably won't be for long. famartin
I am looking for information on the surge on the Raritan River in NJ. Any links? Surge or rainfall induced flooding? For this storm that means a big difference. The surge flooding might make it as far as New Brunswick but no further.

FPizz
Surge or rainfall induced flooding? For this storm that means a big difference. The surge flooding might make it as far as New Brunswick but no further. In this area there has been less than an inch of rain, so I'm guessing surge. famartin
thanks..i think i mean something else though I want the surge in the Raritan Bay along route 9 in old bridge. The closest tidal gauge is at Sandy Hook, probably not exactly representative but you get the idea... http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=phi&gage=sdhn4
winterwx21
The rain cutoff is going to look like some of our recent snowstorms Yeah, it's pretty clear that we're not even gonna get that much rain here. The wind is fun though. Pretty wild out there now. Gusts 50-60. I think we're getting a break in the north-central Jersey to NYC area though. Clearly the worst is to the south. Sundog
Huge jump in # of google hits on my site right now as the One57 thing has happened (pics before storm: http://www.newyorkyimby.com/2012/10/one57-dominating-central-park-skyline.html) That crane can actually crash into another building below. This is insane. I was following skyscrapercity to see what they were doing about all these construction cranes because I thought that something like this could actually happen. winterwx21
We're fortunate we're missing that heavy rain, where the strongest winds are able to mix down. This really isn't that bad. We can deal with 60mph gusts. Different story down in south Jersey...
