earthlight
Wind really picking up in Scotch Plains last 30 minutes. Confirmed. Had people telling me yesterday that they thought we were far enough inland to avoid strong winds. Obviously they haven't been here for any nor'easters. SnoSki14
Does the fact that it's further south make a difference with surge/wind up here? It's very gusty already.
SnowGoose69
It is actually 34,000 CUSTOMERS. LIPA has about 1,000,000 CUSTOMERS. 22,000 CUSTOMERS have lost power in the last three hours. I believe during Irene there were between 400,000 and 500,000 Customers without power. The outages are amazingly low. I thought that a good percentage of trees having lose some leaves and a few having lost most would help slightly, its helped significantly. With the storm still hundreds of miles from landfall I don't see how you can make the assumption that leaves on the trees will help significantly with outages.
