Even down here we're not mixing completely as some people thought. We've seen 50-55kts but we have 80kts at 900mb....I still think we see gusts to 70 with the immediate beaches, especially on the twin forks and coastal NJ seeing 80, but people saying gusts to 95 or 100 or even 85 5, or even 10-15 miles inland I still think are out to lunch.

lack of downpours aiding the lack of winds?

So it is deviating about 38%. Most people said 30% would be the likely deviation so we are not too far off that. Things are just going to go downhill from here on out so I am not ready to rule out at least 65-70 sustained at times in the immediate NYC metro area and of course up and down the NJ coast. The storm strenghtened wind wise and pressure wise upon last update even thoough it is over colder waters so we'll just have to see what happens with mixing.

I think that sounds pretty much right...whoever was predicting 100mph gusts frequently obviously wasn't paying attention. I still think gusts to 80 on the beaches, gusts to 70 in the immediate suburbs.

The issue is that these could last for a prolonged period of time...this isn't going to be a quick 50 mph gust in a thunderstorm. That's going to be the major issue. When you add 35-50mph sustained winds (less calm periods as the storm gets close to the coast), you realize that even when deviating at30-40% things could get ugly.

Been thinking this throughout.
