Damage In Tolland

Recommended Posts

Paddy is there on the left, the destroyed building was the little Mermaid

No its not.

Paddys isn't red.

Little Mermaids was right next to Paddys... obviously took a huge hit too.

The red house is across the street and not sure what it is... I know its next to Sandys Lighthouse, but pretty sure its just a random house.

Another quiet powerless morning. Starting to get some heartbreaking pics and video out of the beach. I really hope everyone got out. Thankfully it's really warm so dealing without power is not an issue at all.

I got my power back at about 6, 630pm yesterday....had been out since 1pm on Monday...

Paddys is the blue building on the beach front, check out the pics thread, front view from the beach, the red house is a general store with an apartment above.

Here's some damage video from litchfieldlibations land

http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/video/#!/on-air/as-seen-on/Fairfield-Damage-Package/176449441

I don't think the crew made it to the actual beach front on Fairfield Beach... just to the river.

Beach area still closed. Got down a couple blocks very emotional and to think it could have been worse.

Hey guys, I wanted to check in and say I made it. Without a doubt, the craziest wind I've ever been in although that's not saying much. Around 2 PM is when things went from stormy to "okay this is legit" and then around 7 PM things went to "wow this crazy." Wind gusts likely exceeded 70 MPH in the longer duration gusts with a sustained wind between 40-50 MPH at its worst. By 10 PM everyone was getting worn out and hoping the wind would stop soon, which it ultimately did by midnight. All evening and night, transformers/wires were going, lighting up the sky, and trees were coming down, including one in front of the house. Several are without power in C NJ, as you all know.

But nothing comes close to the magnitude the shore is facing and the secondary effects post-storm are equally as devastating. It's a bonafide disaster here.

We just took a walk into the beach area, unfortunately the are dull cut off, rescues ongoing, very tough to see what took place there...NG and police in full combat gear patrolling the area. Water on penfield rd all the way up to old field road just shy of it, the surge inland one mile still and they were still flooding at high tide hhis afternoon. We took pics and will get them up once power comes back on. Gut wrenching stuff.
