This event has matched Feb 25, 2010 in terms of reported wind gust wind at KLWM. 61mph. Although shorter in duration for high winds Feb 25, 2010, from what I recall, had many more trees down. Not understating this event, because I went for a ride and many areas on the North Shore are without power and several large limbs and trees down, but seemed like the storm in Feb 2010 packed more of a punch than Sandy has thus far, at least in my neck of the woods. Irene had lower winds for sure around here but I think the saturated ground helped her out a lot. We still got a batch or two of heavy rain and high winds to push through this area before midnight so we'll see what happens with that. As I'm writing this, s*** is hitting the fan in terms of wind gusts.

Schools hopefully (around here in metro Boston) will be open tomorrow. I am also hopeful I can get to Bedford early in the AM and I am optimistic. Great storm....probably has peaked and on the way down now that the rain is moving out very shortly. Next stop, winter.

Lol. Hooked TV up to Gennie, cable is working. Gov Malloy Dire sit, thousands stranded

Lucky...I have it a try and no luck with the cable. Just seeing what's on FB and the boards. Looks like worst case scenario for many. I remember looking at cat 4-5 storm surge maps for my town years ago thinking there was no way it'd ever happen...but we may be seeing just that. Incredible!

This band is absolutely ripping through Essex and Middlesex Counties right now. Anyone have any wind obs between Haverhill and Lowell or so?

I'm right in the middle of the band here in Nashua and there isn't much wind at all, just absolutely pouring.

Nothing scientific in my little pocket. House is surrounded by woods. Very unscientifically, there was one house shaking gust a few minutes ago but the rest seems to be more or less what it was earlier this afternoon.

Well, storm didn't do much up here in Plymouth. Peak gusts were around 35kts earlier this evening, with less then 1" of rain. Was crazy to here about reports even as close as SNH that were pretty crazy though. I definitely wish I was back home for this....but what can you do. Enjoyed following the storm online and learned a lot. An amazing historical storm.

Here's to a great snow season...hopefully only a few weeks from a snow threat up here! Although...as I typed this the power flickered lol.
