Weren't you the one complaining earlier about no wind / bust?

That's the way it goes. Some of the ones rooting and cheering for these things are the first ones to throw up the white flag when it gets bad. The rest of us, who appreciate and respect the danger of the situation want no part of these things. I just don't get the mentality of people who root for these storms that are described as "historic, life-threatening, catastrophic, dangerous" and then complain when the predictions come to fruition and people are harmed/killed and property is damaged. I just don't get it. I am thankfull as all hell this storm stayed as far south as it did and didn't make landfall any farther north.

Thanks, no damage to my home, lots of big branches just missed. Trees down all around. Work never lost power yet! TB had lots of shingles ripped off his house and multiple trees down, one on a portable garage, no cars in it. Heard Misquamicut, Charleston beach areas are a disaster. Expect to hear lots of damage on barrier beaches.

Went down to Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth after work. No rain when I got there but the wind was ripping pretty good. The highest I measured was 40mph (I thought it was higher - had to hold onto railings to keep from being blown backward). Took a number of pics but had a hell of a time keeping the camera steady enough. The waves were impressive; alas, my pics don't do them justice. The spray from the breakers was painful, like a spray of buckshot to the face. After about 20 minutes it began to absolutely pour sideways. I ran back to the car completely soaked on the backside. I later learned that PWM measured a 55mph gust at about this time, probably when the squall hit. Anyway, tons of debris in the road, many without power and the wind continues to roar.

No.

Newark gusted to 77 not too long ago.

S NJ where landfall was didn't have winds like that. Good example of why obsessing over landfall location was not the way to go. The LLJ over the south coast of SNE and LI was where the highest wind potential was and it looks like that is what happened.
