EastBayWx
Peak gust so far 73mph from the East at 4:15pm. Tidal surge is around 4-5 feet currently. Hopefully those convective bands moving in from the southeast bring a nice last pulse of high wind for the evening. SE wind is my favored direction here as the bay orients NW to SE into the Atlantic with a nice funneling effect in SE'er events. I'm impressed my Davis Vantage pro has withstood 70+ again. Last year hit peak wind of 82mph in Irene.
ROOSTA
Sad is the first thought for numerous reasons. Cantore evacuating Battery Park. NYC is getting destroyed. Unbelievable! HIPPYVALLEY
Going to get interesting with this last pulse of moisture moving up from the SE. That's some heavy rain moving your way, should bring some good gusts with it.

weathafella
Seriously? Freaked in the woods of concord mass here. Fearing for my house in this forest. As long as your house can avoid having a tree fall on it you should be fine I think. Good luck and stay safe!

snowman21
Volunteer fireman killed in Easton crushed by tree. GFD has stopped responding to calls. House fire down in Old Greenwich, but firemen had to back out and seek higher ground. An ambulance crew was just told to forget their flat tire and drive on their rims to get out. Tough night for the emergency services as they are being trapped by down trees.

Cold Miser
Crazy sh.it in past 90 mins. About 6 pm power went off in office(in Nyack ny during weekdays). Right before I was typing on the forum and something big hit my window. At same time stuff is hitting roof. I figure this is my hint to bail. Outside the wind is going like I've never seen. Stuff is flying aroun everywhere tree limbs, dumpter lids, all kinds of stuff. I only have 7 mile trip to where I'm staying but it took about 45 mins. The ride was unlike any I've ever had. So many trees and downed power lines. I was dodging debris left and right. I actually saw bright green lightning. It was insane. Nobody was on road except. Emergency vehicles and my dumb a.ss. Power was out in most areas I drove through. I saw 3 huge electrical fires. ... As I am typing. The power just went out wind is relentles right now. Typing from phone. SquatchinNY
OH MY GOODNESS! I was out filming. The gusts, the highest ones, had to be on the order of 60-70mph. The steady, above tree-top roar was louder. I saw red flashes, heard a branch or tree break, and saw/filmed the top of my grandparent's pole light flying off.
