radarman
The winds in Western Mass seemed to have died down considerably. Any chance they will start to crank back up or is this it for us in the Valley? If today was slightly overrated in the valley, tonight might be slightly underrated. Surface winds are shifting to the southeast and any remnant inversion should be gone soon. As lapse rates steepen, some of these stray rain bands that continue to work their way west toward us may bring you gusts that approach what you've seen earlier. So, definitely too soon to throw in the towel completely, but this storm was never ours persay.

Baroclinic Zone
Sustained winds were better than Irene but all in all this actually ended up not as bad as I thought it was going to be. 41kts peak thus far. Not hearing much in the way out outages here anymore.

Yeah the winds at 900mb, might back off from like 80 knots to 65-70 knots...but the ability to mix might be vastly improved over some areas later this evening. So it wouldn't be a shock to see some higher gusts still occurring at that point. Mixing down 80% of 70 knots in a squall is going to produce more than mixing down 50% of 85 knots.
