I dunno...perhaps its getting more pulse-like. But the strongest of the LLJ was progged for about 5-6pm. We'll see if it pulses back up.

It's come way down from the peak here. It was the worst I've seen for 30-45 minutes. If that had kept up or had gotten 10-15mph worse. Yikes. But right now it's a run of the mill noreaster (for the time being).

I saw a wind gust report out of Newport's official reporting station of 59 and I agree with it. I'm skeptical of all these 70 plus gusts. The worst of the gusts diminished about an hour ago. I'd say this event was more substantial than Irene. Far more branches down, bigger branches and some uprooted trees. But certainly nothing historic. The storm surge was disappointing. Big waves at the beaches but no major overwash at the beaches.

I'll buy that. Good post. Max wind in Taunton today, 47MPH. Historic it wasn't, for this area anyway.

In Westerly RI. numerous trees down... Virtually every yard and street has trees either uprooted or split. Damage worse than Irene and the March 2010 nor'easter.

Power is out in most of the town. Highest winds and damage around 3pm.

Winds taken on more of a southerly component in the last 30 mins.

Truly a significant event down here... Will report beach conditions once allowed back into the area.

KBOX VAD also seems to confirm LLJ may have maxed on South Coast.

Our max winds seemed to occur just as it was making landfall? faded soon after. These are still damaging winds if they move inland...we just don't have the bigger trees like you guys do. Up to 275k customers without power on Long Island so figure 500-600k between Boston and LI alone.

sorry to say but birds out chirping here. winds way down..still gusts to 40 55 but sustained 30. nm back up in gusts maybe 65

Bunch more customers went offline around you in the last 10-15 minutes so there's got to be some good gusts ripping through. But same here it's down from earlier. What was the max there? I'm thinking low 60s here.

A lot of breaks in the overcast here. I can't wait to see the post mortem on this storm. Highest gust at my house was 57mph. It looked like it went extra tropical for a minute then contracted back to tropical, sparing us the really good winds. Like a breezy summer evening now. Bummer.

I'm pretty shocked ACK hasn't gusted to at least 60 knots. The highest was 52 knots i think at the ASOS thus far? Kind of weird...BOS was gusting higher than that.

So this report caught my eye on the LSR...

COUPLE OF WINDOWS BLOWN OUT OF A BUILDING AT CLARENDON

AND STUART STREETS

Now, one of the buildings there is the Hancock Tower. Was it that building or one of the other high-rises around there?
