Brian5671
LOL it's happened a lot since '78 actually. Think winter. The bust of March 2001. They closed them Monday and it did nothing but drizzle all day...
Damage In Tolland
For all of CT? Overkill? With statewide gust potential 80-90 it's the best move

bab5871
If anyone is interested in way more inland data my Davis station will be online during all of this. We had gusts over 40mph with Irene and that was about it... just moved to my new house with a TON of HUGE oak/maple trees (yay) so it's sheltered wind wise, but it still should be interesting to see the winds I get. Crossing my fingers that those trees stay put for the day.

ORH_wxman
12z NAM has hurricane force sustained just below 1,000 feet at BOS later this afternoon and 85 knots at 900mb. I wonder if they can gust to 75mph. They don't have to mix down very far to do it.
CT Rain
The bust of March 2001. They closed them Monday and it did nothing but drizzle all day... No that was just for trucks. I don't recall a total ban for all since 78.
CoastalWx
why's that? Well, it seems like it's not QC'd and given location of the buoy, gusts to 116kts where no models show wind anywhere near this level...anywhere...seems too high. I might be wrong, but at the least I would question it.

HIPPYVALLEY
98% of savoy and 70% now in the dark. It begins. So there's about 50 people w/o power? lol How are the gusts up at the pit? Steadier here now but I'm guessing nothing over 20mph yet. Can hear it whistling up above now. Eerie. I just assume I lose power eventually due to the number of trees on our street. CoastalWx
I doubt that too. It's funny that Norfolk is calm right now. I think Kevin could see gusts that are rather surprising given his elevation and exposure, but we'll see.
