CT Rain
The local W MA stations have been very level headed. Avoiding hype but telling people there would be outages and there would be damage. There's still sure to be a lot of people b*tching today about why school was canceled in W MA. Our coverage would have been much different if we didn't have a shoreline and 360,000 in an evacuation zone lol.

CT Rain
Yeah that's a challenge I bet. I mean if it's just wind and no surge it's an easier storm to cover and the overall threat is much less. We tried to hammer home the surge threat yesterday since that has the potential to destroy houses and kill if people don't heed evacuation orders. I'm looking forward to the 12z OKX sounding. Yeah, it's got to be tough for you guys to have to walk the line getting people in Bridgeport to understand how bad this will be while people in Hartford are complaining that it's not as big a deal as your are making it. No win.

Ginx snewx
Yeah Irene was pathetic compared to this. Just looking at the soundings and cross sections, its really no comparison. Irene had like 65-70 knots at 925mb over the Cape...this time around its like 85 knots and over the interior its far more impressive than Irene was. Looking back at past systems, the closest sounding I found to this in the past 20 years was Dec 23-24, 1994. we talked about 94 before, this is going to be incredible

rivers
gust to 42 mph very windy..tides not that bad,yet.. seems like the east to west winds are keeping the waves further out from shore.I imagine if we shift to the ese or se later that will make all the difference in bringing those battering wave into shore. Yes. This is what I'm worried about. While the tide is rising the wind waves aren't so bad yet. Winds will veer this afternoon and we're going to see large/battering waves in addition to near record tide levels.
