Might be something else atop MQE.

I was wondering if MQE could pull off a 100mph gust...not sure they will quite make it. But they are a lock for 80+. It gets to 90 knots at 900mb...but 75 knots at 925mb...so not sure if they can pull it off. They'd probably need some help from convection.

It looks like the best chance for any convection will occur right in the zone of strongest LLJ winds.

I fee. like a bit of an outsider here being in the area of SNE least likely to have any significant impact. So, I can speak from the bleachers and just say "wow" this is really incredible. First--all good wishes to those who will undoubtedly sustain damage of some sort. Secondly, for those of you who are able to experience "damage-free", what a rare event you will be able to say you witnessed.

Good luck, all.

Well this ought to be fun in a little while. Sustained winds close to what my peak gust was for Irene. May be able to eek out a hurricane gust.yikes.png

Yeah Irene was pathetic compared to this. Just looking at the soundings and cross sections, its really no comparison. Irene had like 65-70 knots at 925mb over the Cape...this time around its like 85 knots and over the interior its far more impressive than Irene was. Looking back at past systems, the closest sounding I found to this in the past 20 years was Dec 23-24, 1994.
