mattie g
Crazy...we're going to have a 940mb, 90mph hurricane making landfall in Jersey/Delaware moving nearly due west. At the end of October.
The Dude
Where did the obs thread go? Looks like the obs and banter thread got merged for some reason. Too bad. I'd been enjoying the more streamlined obs thread. The banter thread was hard to keep up with unless I'm constantly on here.

It was my suggestion but we can separate them again....I found it cumbersome to browse through 5 discrete threads many with overlapping posts

snownerd
Am I reading this right that some spots might see 5+" of snow in an hour later? That number seems really high.

MN Transplant
good luck re separating 'em.. merge not best idea could have closed one im kinda doubting the winds.. right before they crush harder probably (and yes right on time some big gusts) We've already gone to 52 at DCA. Looking at the radar, I can't imagine we won't go into the 60s at least.

That's why I ignored the banter thread when i could only check in for a few minutes. I agree there was a lot of banter in the obs thread (and obs in the banter thread). It works well in theory... jacindc
Sure would love a bit of nowcasting from people in the know. Was this storm so well-modeled and well forecasted that nothing has changed from what we should be expecting over the next few hours?
H2O
me too...until I realized a lot of good posts and obs were in the banter thread People are trying to do the right thing and not post nonsense so I can see why some posts were in there. The Dude
me too...until I realized a lot of good posts and obs were in the banter thread Screw the current approach. We just need 2 threads. "Good posts" and "other posts."

Was this storm so well-modeled and well forecasted that nothing has changed from what we should be expecting over the next few hours? I think you are starting to see what is coming. Radar shows that as the storm center makes landfall and continues W we will get these bands of mod to heavy rain and strong winds. It will last for a number of hours
snowfan
Sorry if already posted and I know it's out of the area, but Mt Washington gusted to 130 mph. Sustained winds at 100 mph.
Don Cherry's Jacket
We've already gone to 52 at DCA. Looking at the radar, I can't imagine we won't go into the 60s at least. My recollection is the TAF at KDCA has gusts forecast at 55 or 57 at some point tomorrow AM. With the K to MPH conversion, I think you're right.
